Purpose: Impaired attention after stroke is a common problem for which rehabilitation would potentially be indicated. Systematic review evidence has revealed a lack of high-quality research that supports the effectiveness of standard-of-care cognitive rehabilitation for sustained attention, alertness, and functional impact on daily life after stroke. Standard-of-care cognitive rehabilitation does not include meditation. Meditation has been defined in contemporary scientific literature as a regime entailing voluntary self-regulation of attention. As such, meditation could potentially improve attention in keeping with tenets of neuroplasticity. Objective: Growing numbers of physical therapy (PT) educational programs (PTEPs) creates a challenge in recruiting and retaining faculty, potentially having negative ramifications for PT education. Burnout may be contributory as it has known physiological, psychological, and behavioral consequences in numerous clinical and academic populations, creating widespread negative outcomes. This study aimed to investigate burnout prevalence among PT faculty. This case report follows the injury presentation and return to pitching of two NCAA Division II baseball pitchers. A literature review is provided to detail the current prevalence and epidemiology related to injuries to the throwing arm of pitchers. The review also outlines current procedures for returning a baseball pitcher to pitching from the mound. The authors discuss key concepts related to progressing previously injured pitchers back to pitching from the mound, while using the two cases presented as exemplars for using the objective, goal oriented, and adaptable interval throwing program developed at the pitchers’ university.

Gastroschisis is a congenital defect of the abdominal wall viscera that occurs during early embryonic development, leading to the protrusion of bowel through an opening near the umbilical cord. This condition is classified as either simple, involving only the bowel, or complex, involving additional complications like necrosis or intestinal atresia. While the exact cause of gastroschisis remains unknown, it is believed to be influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. This analysis explores how stimulant addictions—specifically cocaine, methamphetamines, and nicotine—impact the brain's reward system, comparing these effects with those seen in Internet Addiction (IA). Drawing from functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies, it assesses changes in key brain regions involved in reward processing, craving, and cognitive control related to these addictive behaviors. The analysis investigates how each stimulant affects dopaminergic transmission and disrupts reward circuitry, highlighting both similarities and differences in brain activation patterns linked to addiction. For people diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the relationship between mood episodes and interpersonal life is critical. Yet little is known about how their experience of other people changes during and between episodes of depression and mania. This longitudinal study aimed to investigate the experience of interpersonal change during depression, mania and euthymia (stability). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three women at two time points and were analysed using longitudinal interpretative phenomenological analysis. One longitudinal theme, “Changing sense of others impacts relatedness,” demonstrates profound changes in participants’ experiences of other people within and between episodes. Postpartum mental health is a critical, yet both clinically and socially underrecognized, component of maternal care. Postpartum depression (PPD) affects up to 1 in 7 mothers and significantly impacts both maternal and family well-being. The Postpartum Wellness Survey (PWS) was developed to assess the interconnected relationships among dietary quality and nutrition knowledge, postpartum mood and emotional health, and social determinants of health (SDOH). Twenty-four participants within 12 months of delivery completed the survey, which integrated validated psychological and dietary assessment tools to capture community-level patterns in postpartum wellness. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects approximately 10% of women of reproductive age and involves hormonal imbalances partly driven by disrupted estrogen synthesis. Aromatase (CYP19A1) catalyzes the conversion of testosterone and androstenedione into estrogen, making it essential for maintaining estrogen–androgen balance. The structural consequences of disease-associated aromatase mutations remain poorly understood. We investigated the Val161Asp substitution, a PCOS-linked variant in which a nonpolar valine is replaced by a negatively charged aspartate within a hydrophobic helical region of aromatase. This project aims to model and observe the binding of the drug Marizomib (MZB) and compare its binding affinity to that of other similar drugs to the proteosome using the available PDB ID 9HMN and bioinformatics tools. MZB is an anti-cancer drug that was derived from the marine bacterium, Salinosporamide A. Its function is to inhibit the human 20S proteasome from breaking down misfolded and excess proteins, which eventually causes the cell to trigger apoptosis. In this study we prepared a 3D printed model to better understand OCT3-mediated buprenorphine transport. Buprenorphine is a high affinity partial agonist at the mu-opioid receptor (μ-OR) and main component of Suboxone. It has a unique pharmacological profile that makes it effective for treating both pain and opioid use disorder (OUD) but has been linked to oral health issues such as dry mouth and tooth decay. The exceptionally tight binding of suboxone to μ-OR allows for sustained receptor occupancy and reduced opioid misuse potential by patients. Pikachurin is an extracellular matrix scaffold protein that bridges photoreceptor and ON-bipolar cell synapses by linking the presynaptic dystroglycan complex to the postsynaptic receptor GPR179, ensuring precise synaptic alignment essential for normal vision.
