The Design And Implementation Of A Faculty Development Program At Bauder College, Irene M. Hillman

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

Bauder College is one of the fifty-two proprietary schools owned and operated by National Education Corporation (NEC). The basic philosophy of the corporate owned schools is career education. Each school's purpose, within the NEC chain, is to produce graduates who are highly skilled to pursue their career choice in industry. Two important elements vital to achieve this goal are: hands-on experience, and a faculty that has been selected from industry. Although the faculty at each location consists of highly skilled professionals, few are trained educators.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the faculty development programs at the fifty-two …

A Quasi Experimental Study Of Cognitive Styles And Teaching Methodology For Students In Nursing Education., Jane Magee

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

Abilene Intercollegiate School of Nursing (AISN) is faced with the task of educating nurses who acquire their undergraduate courses from three different universities. AISN is a consortium of these three institutions of higher education. Just as these students are varied in their first years of higher education, they do not approach. learning situations in the same manner. They differ in the ways they perceive, organize, and relate experiences. It is likely that they respond differently to a particular instructional approach. Little investigation has been done at AISN to define and use specific methods to present relevant information.

The study is …

An Analysis Of The Effect Of Sixteen Academic Variables On Completion And Noncompletion Of An Associate Degree Nursing Program, Karon Titus Overmeyer

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

The continuing decline in the number of applicants to nursing programs combined with the need to ensure that graduates are competent has made essential the development of reliable predictors that more fully assess the potential of all individuals in the restricted applicant pool. The purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to determine which admission and continuation criteria used by Broward Community College's (BCC) Nursing Program could be used as predictors for completion of the program and (2) to determine those students who are at-risk of not completing the nursing program. The independent variables for the study were five admission …

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

This practicum addresses the problem of low academic motivation in seventh-grade students. Only one-third of all seventh-grade students exhibited overall high academic motivation.

Motivation is an important factor in the process of learning. Therefore, the first goal of this practicum was that students in the seventh grade would improve their academic motivation. The second goal was that teachers of these students would have an increased knowledge base covering causes of motivational problems and teaching strategies for the prevention and …
