Increasing Parental Choice Of Placement Options For Students With Moterate To Severe Disabilities, Dennis J. Vogel
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
This MARP was an attempt to expand the provision of special education and related services to students with moderate to severe disabilities. Prior to this practicum, this services were provided exclusively at Calvert Country School, a segregated special education facility.
The author of this practicum was appointed as Principal of Calvert Country in August, 1984. At that time, all neighboring counties were providing programs for students in the moderate to severe range or disability under the same model. However, two of the three counties initiated integration projects which resulted in the movement of students previously served in special centers to …

A Plan To Improve Social Studies Curriculum And Attitudes Toward Social Studies Of Elementary School Students, Zara R. Barnhill
A Plan To Improve Social Studies Curriculum And Attitudes Toward Social Studies Of Elementary School Students, Zara R. Barnhill
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
This report describes a program that was designed to improve the social studies curriculum and the attitudes toward social studies in the fourth and fifth grades at J. Paul Beam Elementary School in South Carolina. The problem was that students' scores in these grades had declined or fluctuated in the classroom as evidenced by grades and performance on the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS). This disparity had been documented for the 1987, 1988, and 1989 school years.
Probable causes of the problem were identified as: outdated district curriculum guide, too much dependence on the textbook, lack of importance put …

Recent Florida Capital Decisions, Gary Caldwell
Recent Florida Capital Decisions, Gary Caldwell
Nova Law Review
The death penalty applies to two offenses under Florida law; first
degree murder' and capital drug trafficking.2 Although Florida law also
defines sexual battery of a minor as a capital offense, the Florida Supreme
Court has ruled that the death penalty does not apply to that
offense.

Crime And Punishment? Judges' Gavels Become The Latest Weapon In The War On Drugs, Michael E. Coviello
Nova Law Review
In 1973 President Richard Nixon declared a "world war" on
drugs.' This war has resulted in several changes in the criminal justice
system which have largely come from the executive and legislative
branches.2 These executive and legislative changes have been predominately
concerned with law enforcement and punishment.

Commentary: Aids Testing Of Health Care Workers, State Representative Lois J. Frankel
Nova Law Review
It is very curious how some people think legislators can write laws
that give people absolute protection from certain risks or harm. Laws
which are well-considered may reduce risks and offer substantial protection
from harm; for example, laws prohibiting murder or requiring
the wearing of a seat belt.

Instructional Use Of Computers For Entry-Level Physical Therapy Education In The United States, Edmund M. Kosmahl
Instructional Use Of Computers For Entry-Level Physical Therapy Education In The United States, Edmund M. Kosmahl
CCAC Theses and Dissertations
Little was known about the value of computer assisted instruction (CAl) for entry-level physical therapy (PT) education. Factors that affect implementation and use of CAl in entry-level PT education had not been identified. Because of this paucity of information, decision-making about the implementation and use of CAl in entry-level PT education had been hampered.
This study used mail questionnaire survey methods to find:
- The extent of use of computer-assisted instruction (CAl) in entry-level physical therapy (PT) education.
- The perceived value of CAl compared to more traditional instructional methods for entry-level PT education.
- What factors affect implementation and use of CAl …
