Developing And Implementing Institutional Priorities For An Adult-Oriented College Through A System Of Management Objectives, Margaret R. Shearon
Developing And Implementing Institutional Priorities For An Adult-Oriented College Through A System Of Management Objectives, Margaret R. Shearon
HCBE Theses and Dissertations
Nova College, the undergraduate center of Nova University, was faced with the need to make additional organizational and structural changes in order to meet mandated requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as well as to accommodate increasing student enrollment and growing competition from a large public university. This study was concerned with the changes made in the Business Programs and Career Division of Nova College.
An assessment was done to determine the areas most in need of change. This led to developing and implementing institutional priorities through a system of managerial objectives. Several research questions were asked …

Development Of A Guide That Orients Part-Time Teachers Of Adults To The Functions Of Instruction., Nannette B. Hoppe
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
The purpose of this Practicum was to develop a guide for parttime teachers of adults aimed at providing basic information about the Northeast Wisconsin Vocational, Technical and Adult Education (NWVTAE) District and at orienting the teachers to the functions of instruction. Based on the review of literature, expressed and perceived needs of part-time teachers of adults, needs identified in the Self Study Report: Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute, and analyses of the "Teacher Improvement Form" and "The Instructor/Course Evaluation Form", an Instructor's Guide for Beginning Part-Time Teachers of Adults focusing on functions of instruction was developed. Based on administrative interviews regarding …

A New Species Of Cerapus Say, 1817 (Crustacea: Amphipoda) From The Northern Gulf Of Mexico, With Notes On Its Ecology, James Darwin Thomas, Richard W. Heard
Marine & Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles
During research in coastal marshes of the Mississippi Delta region in 1975, a large, undescribed amphipod belonging to the genus Cerapus was discovered in tidal channels. This new species, C. benthophilus, is characterized by its large size and 7-12 segmented antennal flagella. Habitat preference is muddy silt bottoms upon which it constructs conspicuous mats or "tufts" of interwoven tubes in shallow coastal bays and marshes from Louisiana to the panhandle areas of northern Florida.
Serologic And Hematologic Values Of Bison In Colorado, Edward O. Keith, James Ellis, Robert W. Phillips, Maxine M. Benjamin
Serologic And Hematologic Values Of Bison In Colorado, Edward O. Keith, James Ellis, Robert W. Phillips, Maxine M. Benjamin
Marine & Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles
Recent economic and aesthetic interest in North American bison (Bison bison) has lead to increased interstate transport of these animals. Serologic and hematologic standards for bison are needed to detect disease in transported animals as well as within herds. This paper describes variation in blood physiological parameters in bison caused by variations in diet and season. Blood was taken from six bison and analyzed for serologic and hematologic parameters. Significant variation was found in blood urea nitrogen, chloride, cholesterol, creatinine, eosinophil, glucose, hemoglobin, lactic dehydrogenase, leukocyte, packed cell volume, potassium, serum globulin, serum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase, SGPT, and …

Climatic Implications Of Barbados Coral Growth, Richard E. Dodge, Karl K. Turekian, J. Rimas Vaisnys
Climatic Implications Of Barbados Coral Growth, Richard E. Dodge, Karl K. Turekian, J. Rimas Vaisnys
Marine & Environmental Sciences Faculty Proceedings, Presentations, Speeches, Lectures
Results from a coral growth band analysis utilizing samples of M. annularis from the Recent Barbados reef and from three fossil raised reefs (Barbados I, II, and III dated at 82,000, 105,000, and 125,000 yrs. B.P.) indicate that in the Barbados II collection both average band width and variability were lower than in the other samples. We suggest the climate during formation of the 105,000 yrs. B.P. reef was significantly different than that of the present.

Bvr-1, A Restriction Locus Of A Type C Rna Virus In The Feline Cellular Genome: Identification, Location, And Phenotypic Characterization In Cat X Mouse Somatic Cell Hybrids, Stephen J. O'Brien
Biology Faculty Articles
Somatic cell hybrids were constructed between BALB/c-RAG mouse cells and feline lymphoma cells by the hypoxanthine-aminopterin-thymidine selection scheme. RAG cells spontaneously produce an endogenous B-tropic type C virus. Cat-mouse hybrids preferentially segregate feline chromosomes and retain murine chromosomes, demonstrable by karyotypic and isozyme analyses. Despite the presence of the complete mouse genome, including the viral genome, virus production was diminished to 1-5% of the levels observed in RAG parents based upon particle-associated RNA-dependent DNA polymerase (reverse transcriptase) activity in the culture fluid. Thirty-seven hybrids made on four different occasions had suppressed virus levels, and no hybrids expressed parental virus levels. Reverse …
