Clinical, Microbiological And Radiographic Comparison Of Two Treatment Strategies Of Peri-Implantitis, Genevieve Payne

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Dental implants have revolutionized the world of dentistry since their discovery by Branemark (5). Millions of dental implants are being placed in the United States every year. Dental implants are the best option for many people to replace missing teeth in a predictable fashion. In spite of the high success and survival rates of dental implants, complications and failures can occur. Peri-implantitis generates an inflammatory response that involves both soft tissue inflammation and progressive loss of supporting bone beyond biologic remodelling (AAP consensus paper 2013 (2)). A recent meta-analysis by Decks in 2016 (13) reported the prevalence of peri-implantitis to …

Mild Traumatic Brain Injury And Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: A Review, Jared S. Link, Trevor Barker, Sophia Serpa, Maya Pinjala, Thomas M. Oswald, Lisa K. Lashley

Archives of Assessment Psychology

The often-pernicious neuropsychological effects following a mild traumatic brain injury can persist for months or even years. Symptoms associated with head injury can include: headaches, orthostatic hypotension, trouble sleeping, slower processing speed, fatigue, and impairments in attention, memory, and executive functioning. These symptoms can be exacerbated as well as maintained via depression and anxiety. Collectively, this is known as persistent post-concussive syndrome. Interventions to alleviate these symptoms are lacking, expensive, and/or time-consuming. Currently, there has been a surge of interest into the neuroanatomical and neuropsychological correlates of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). Evidence suggests that an 8-week MBSR program and its …

Sixty-plus years of research have demonstrated that college students tend to score significantly higher than older adults on the earlier forms of the MMPI (i.e., MMPI and MMPI-2). Relatively little research has examined whether this pattern of results holds with the newer MMPI-2-RF. The present study compared MMPI-2-RF scores of college students, both by gender and combined, to a reference group composed of equal numbers of men and women from the MMPI-2 normative sample. Results demonstrated that this pattern of higher scores among college students remains a concern when using the MMPI-2-RF. Of particular concern is the finding that women’s …

Christian Millennials And Christian Symbols In Advertising: Understanding The Effects Of Christian Symbols On Advertising Effectiveness, Arthur Rainer

HCBE Theses and Dissertations

The use of religious symbols in advertising is not novel. For a significant period of time, advertisers have used religious symbols in advertising to appeal to the religions’ respective adherents. However, the research on this particular advertising strategy remains sparse. While some studies have show the effectiveness of religious symbols in advertising, there is very little research on the moderating effect of a symbol’s perceived sacredness and prominence in the ad on perceived attitude similarity, perceived expertise, perceived trustworthiness, and skepticism. Additionally, much research is needed to further understand generational differences among consumers who view advertisements containing religious symbols. This …
