Application Of The Theory Of Planned Behavior In Concussion Disclosure: A Systematic Review, Michelle L. Weber Rawlins, R. Curtis Bay, Tamara Valovich Mcleod
Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice
Purpose: Many athletes do not seek care for a suspected concussion for a number of reasons. Failing to do so can lead to persisting symptoms, longer recovery, or secondary injury. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), along with knowledge of concussion, has been used to examine concussion care seeking. It is theorized that TPB components including attitudes, subjective norms, and self-efficacy are associated with one’s intention to perform a health-related behavior, and their actual behavior. Many studies have used the TPB in an attempt to predict concussion disclosure, with mixed results. The purpose of this systematic review was to determine …

Comprehensive Overview Of Gastroschisis, Alexis Carver
Mako: NSU Undergraduate Student Journal
Gastroschisis is a congenital defect of the abdominal wall viscera that occurs during early embryonic development, leading to the protrusion of bowel through an opening near the umbilical cord. This condition is classified as either simple, involving only the bowel, or complex, involving additional complications like necrosis or intestinal atresia. While the exact cause of gastroschisis remains unknown, it is believed to be influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. This congenital disorder affects a very small percentage of neonates, and the associated mortality rates are relatively low due to modern developments in medical science. Gastroschisis can be …

THIS ARTICLE HAS BEEN RETRACTED DUE TO THE FOLLOWING REASON: inadvertent errors in several citations.
The complex process of regulating gene expression involves a large number of cis- and trans-acting components. The cis elements also referred to as cis regulatory elements (CREs) are highly conserved across species, and are often referred to as conserved domains mainly located in the promoters of genes. The trans acting sequences such as enhancers, moderators and insulators are also crucial in the regulation of gene expression. With an increased influx of genomic and transcriptomic data, study of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) is highly effective in …

Resistance Training Versus Cardiovascular Training: Which Is Better For Fat Loss?: A Brief Narrative Review., Jason M. Curtis, Jose Antonio, Cassandra Evans
Journal for Sports Neuroscience
Abstract
Introduction: Obesity has risen from 30.5% to 41.9% from 2000-2017. Those who are considered severely obese increased from 4.7% to 9.2% over that same period. There are numerous fitness-center approaches to induce weight-loss or reduction of body fat. These interventions are often categorized into two general categories: Resistance training (using weighted resistance in anaerobic strength training) and cardiovascular training (aerobic training). While both fitness groups have been shown to be effective, there is a debate about which method is most effective for eliciting changes in body composition, primarily fat loss.
Methods: Google Scholar and Pubmed were scoured for …

The Qualitative Report
For people diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the relationship between mood episodes and interpersonal life is critical. Yet little is known about how their experience of other people changes during and between episodes of depression and mania. This longitudinal study aimed to investigate the experience of interpersonal change during depression, mania and euthymia (stability). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three women at two time points and were analysed using longitudinal interpretative phenomenological analysis. One longitudinal theme, “Changing sense of others impacts relatedness,” demonstrates profound changes in participants’ experiences of other people within and between episodes. During depression, participants experienced other people …
