"The location of a possible dam site on the Gasconade River as a thesis proved to be a very interesting subject. Our first trip pointed out to us that we had undertaken a large task. We also realized that our subject was too big to complete thouroughly sic in the time alloted. "Every year the various engineering and industrial magazines print curves showing the rise and fall of metal stocks throughout the year. to the ordinary reader, these curves are seldom intelligible; he sees the ups and downs; he knows that the prices have risen and fallen; but he rarely knows what causes these changes -- and the curves themselves never tell. This paper tries to remedy this defect; it draws its curves, and, in the light of historical events, which it recounts, tries to determine the causes for the fluctuations in the market. it further places these factors on the curve …

"During the spring of 1919 we undertook to prepare tri-methyl-amine for the Research Department of the Eastman Kodak Company in the Industrial Chemistry Laboratory of the Missouri School of Minds. According to V. Merz and K. Gasiorowski the three methyl amines were qualitatively proven to be present in the reaction products obtained by heating methyl alcohol, ammonia and zinc chloride to 220°C. in a bomb for fourteen hours. As these raw materials are inexpensive we attempted to prepare the tri-methyl-amine by this reaction employing for the purpose a small industrial autoclave. "The formation of sulphonamide derivatives is often of distinct importance. These substances are easily purified and give sharp mepting points which make them of value for identification phases of research work. Also they are of value commercially as in the production of saccharin and other similar compounds. The purpose of this investigation is to secure information on the comparative production and yield of sulphonamides, and intermediate products, formed from their respective ring hydrocarbons, as benzene and toluene. careful melting point are taken on purified products and solubility curves developed for different solvents.
