"This thesis describes the development of a new process for the manufacture of spherical particles of cellulose, regenerated from cellulose zanthate.
An electric equipment manufacturing company advised the author’s company that it had developed a device that required uniform spheres of regenerated cellulose having a diameter of about 75 to 100 mils. This company reported that it had developed a process for the manufacture of the cellulose particles but that the spheres produced by the process were not uniformly spherical. "The corrosion of metals in the petroleum industry has become an important engineering problem. The rapid increase during recent years in costs of steel has caused the industry to intensify its efforts to minimize corrosion losses in pipe lines and well casings. An industry-wide research program has resulted in the development of improved methods of controlling corrosion of such equipment.

"Within the past few years the development of oil-base drilling fluids has become one of the more important contributions to drilling and production technology. The use or these new muds has increased as the benefits obtained have become more widely known and appreciated. "The lead deposits in the Southeastern Missouri mining district have been examined by numerous geologists and mining engineers since the original discovery about 1720. A list of the men who have reported on them includes some of the outstanding students of ore deposits.
The regional geology in the mining district either was unknown or only vaguely known when most of the early examinations were made, and the discussions of the structural geology are restricted in scope owing to the lack of detailed information.
