"The object of this thesis is to determine by analytical means and laboratory tests the holding force of various crimp methods of fastening sheet metals and special tubing. The study is conducted with heat treated Aluminum alloy 24S.T3.

"The purpose of this investigation is to search for a method by which the strength properties of a rock may be described.
For this purpose, an attempt has been made to find out some relationship by which the rooks may be classified or described. For the solution of problems of mine stability, the mechanical properties of a rock should be known, i.e., hardness, toughness and strength. It is difficult to make a study of some method of classification or description of a rock without knowledge of these properties.

"Samples of coal were taken at three inch intervals vertically down the Bevier seam at three localities in Macon and Randolph Counties. Channel samples were collected at the three localities. All samples were analyzed for ash content, total sulphur content, crucible swelling number, and volatile content. The channel samples were analyzed for "pyritic" sulphur, “sulphate" sulphur, and "organic" sulphur. Thin sections of the samples were used in an estimation of anthraxylon and attritus contents.
In all the samples studied, volatile content of the coal seemed to be related to the ash content and the sulphur content. Crucible swelling number also …

"In the last few years the transmission voltages have increased tremendously. Along with the voltage increase came increased load carrying ability for the circuits. The first few links of a new 330 KV transmission system are now under construction in this country. Sweden is already operating a 380 KV line. It is expected to carry a load as high as 850,000 KW on a single circuit.
Interconnection between systems in adjoining areas is a practice to get further operating benefits. The benefits are - reduction of necessary reserve capacity, increased load diversity, and decreasing losses.
