Mining Methods At The Higueras District, State Of Coahuila, Mexico, Harry Herbert Hughes
Mining Methods At The Higueras District, State Of Coahuila, Mexico, Harry Herbert Hughes
Professional Degree Theses
"The Higueras district, in the State of Coahuila, Mexico, is little known even in Mexico; and it is probably safe to say that not one out of every hundred engineers in the United States has even heart of it. This is easily accounted for by the fact that the district is small and relatively unimportant economically. Also, as one becomes more accustomed to think of mines, such as some of the big copper deposits, with productions running into thousands of tons daily, there is a tendency to pass over the small ones, giving them only a passing thought, if that. …
A Water Supply System For A Small Mining Community, Paul Donovan Windsor
A Water Supply System For A Small Mining Community, Paul Donovan Windsor
Professional Degree Theses
"This thesis deals with the problems met in solving the water supply question for a small coal mining community in southern Illinois. It will contain a brief general treatise on modern water purification with a discussion of the various methods and steps in modern practice, a set of drawings and specifications for a water supply system for this community together with an explanation of them"--Introduction, page 4.
Recovery Of Carbonate Copper Ore By Means Of Flotation At The Kennecott Copper Corporation Plant, Kennecott, Alaska, George Leo Richert
Recovery Of Carbonate Copper Ore By Means Of Flotation At The Kennecott Copper Corporation Plant, Kennecott, Alaska, George Leo Richert
Professional Degree Theses
"The Kennecott Copper Corporation mines and the adjoining Mother Lode Coalition Co. mine, which the Kennecott Copper Corporation controls and operates as an integral part of their Kennecott, Alaska camp, are situated in the Nizina Mining District, 196 miles inland from Cordova, Alaska, the tide-water shipping point. The first claims were discovered in 1900, and these later became the property of the Kennecott Copper Corporation. The Kennecott holdings consist of 111 mineral claims and the Mother Lode Coalition Co. has 73 claims"--Introduction, page 4.
A Study Of The Reduction Of Zinc Oxide By Hydrogen And Methane, Frederick Adam Weirich
A Study Of The Reduction Of Zinc Oxide By Hydrogen And Methane, Frederick Adam Weirich
Masters Theses
"The purpose of the investigation was to make a study of the reduction of zinc oxide by hydrogen and methane and to study the conditions for the most efficient condensation of the zinc vapor"--Investigations, page 4.
Comparative Value Of Various Grog Materials For The Manufacture Of Zinc Retorts, Wei-Tung T. Hu
Comparative Value Of Various Grog Materials For The Manufacture Of Zinc Retorts, Wei-Tung T. Hu
Masters Theses
"As before stated, this present investigation, of which this thesis covers only a part, undertakes to study the comparative values of various grog materials for the manufacture of zinc retorts, having as its object to find better grog materials for the purpose than those commonly in use at the present time, and to determine the best proportions of bond clay to use with each kind of grog"--Scope of Investigation, page 4.
Electrothermic Dry Distillation Of Zinc, Ira Nathan Goff
Electrothermic Dry Distillation Of Zinc, Ira Nathan Goff
Masters Theses
"Although the work described in this thesis cannot be considered as complete, until certain mechanical changes have been made and the furnace operated continuously over a considerable period of time, this electrothermic dry distillation process for the extraction of zinc from ores offers excellent commercial possibilities. The literature has been reviewed, the process that was used at East St. Louis described, and the results of work at the Mississippi Valley Experiment Station of the United States Bureau of Mines, Department of Commerce, Rolla, Missouri along the line of electrothermic metallurgy of zinc considered"--Summary, page 58.
A Specific Gravity Study Of Some Of The Southeast Missouri Lead Ores And Tailings, Robert Gibson O'Meara
A Specific Gravity Study Of Some Of The Southeast Missouri Lead Ores And Tailings, Robert Gibson O'Meara
Masters Theses
"The object of this investigation was to study some of the Southeast Missouri lead ores and tailings to trace the freeing of galena through all of the screen sizes. It was also desired to determine the efficiency of recovery with the present treatment and, whether or not a change to finer crushing would be advisable. In order to isolate parts of different specific gravity in the ores and tailings, heavy liquids were used"--Object of Investigation, page 2.
The Properties Of Refractories In Zinc Metallurgy. Part Iii. Comparison Of Various Clays, Richard Elkanah Sears
The Properties Of Refractories In Zinc Metallurgy. Part Iii. Comparison Of Various Clays, Richard Elkanah Sears
Masters Theses
"This thesis...contains a description of a part of a general investigation on the subject of the refractories used in the distillation of zinc. This investigation has been in progress for the past eighteen months at the Mississippi Valley Experiment Station of the United States Bureau of Mines, Department of Commerce, in cooperation with the School of Mines and Metallurgy of the University of Missouri. The first phase of this investigation had for its theme the determination of the properties of the fire clays and body mixtures now used in the manufacture of zinc retorts. The second phase deals with the …
A Study Of Electrometric Methods For Determining Selenium And Tellurium, Bertie Lee Browning
A Study Of Electrometric Methods For Determining Selenium And Tellurium, Bertie Lee Browning
Masters Theses
"The quantitative oxidation of tellurious acid to telluric acid by potassium dichromate has been shown by Lenher and Wakefield to be applicable to the volumetric determination of tellurium. The purpose of this investigation was to study the applicability of the electrometric method to this titration"--Introduction, page [1].
Fault Areas Of South Eastern Kansas Coal Beds, George Elmer Abernathy
Fault Areas Of South Eastern Kansas Coal Beds, George Elmer Abernathy
Professional Degree Theses
"The most important coal producing district of the state as well as the oldest in point of age of production is that section of the coal bearing formations located in Crawford and Cherokee county Kansas, which also extends into Barton county, Missouri.
The district has a surface area of about 260 to 300 square miles. The eastern boundary of the district is the outcrop of the lower coal bed known as the Weir-Pittsburg bed. The outcrop follows a more or less irregular line from a few miles north of Columbus, Kansas, and runs in a general northeast direction, passing just …
