This postcard features a black and white image of a rural road identified as being one of five Pike Roads leading into Aberdeen, Mississippi. Trees, shrubs and utility poles line the sides of the road and a railroad crossing sign can be seen in the distance. Pike roads were traditionally roads used as the main roads for farmers bringing goods to market as privately-funded toll roads in which the money went into maintenance, improvements and owners’ pockets. The title and publisher of the card is printed in the upper right of the image.
