The Effects Of Community Type And Sexual Orientation On Adolescent Alcohol Abuse: A Retrospective Exploration, Karla Beth Moore
The Effects Of Community Type And Sexual Orientation On Adolescent Alcohol Abuse: A Retrospective Exploration, Karla Beth Moore
Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
Considerable research has demonstrated that adolescents, as a whole, are experimenting with alcohol at alarming rates (Biddle, Bank, & Marlin, 1980; Donath, et al., 2011;King, Chassin, & Molina, 2009). However, research is very mixed on findings identifying which groups of adolescents tend to be most at risk for using alcohol, as well as the reasons these groups identify for such experimentation (Carlo, Crockett, Wilkinson, & Beal, 2011; Coomber, Toumbourou, Miller, Staiger, Hemphill, & Catalano, 2011). The current study examined participants from various community types and sexual orientations, in a retrospective manner. Participants (ages 18 and over) answered questions on a …

ASA Annual Conference
It has been less than a year since the United States Supreme Court’s ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges ushered in marriage equality nationwide. However, this victory has not stopped continued efforts to discriminate against LGBT people throughout our region. Even with the freedom to marry secured many LGBT people may find themselves in situations where they can be married on Sunday, fired on Monday, and evicted on Tuesday. In this session we will be exploring the legal challenges facing LGBT West Virginians and LGBT people living in our region. The goal of this presentation is to give participants the language …

Utilizing Radiofrequency Identification Technology To Improve Safety And Management Of Blood Bank Supply Chains, Alberto Coustasse, Pamela Meadows, Robert S. Hall, Travis Hibner, Stacie Deslich
Management Faculty Research
The importance of efficiency in the supply chain of perishable products, such as the blood products used in transfusion services, cannot be overstated. Many problems can occur, such as the outdating of products, inventory management issues, patient misidentification, and mistransfusion. Materials and Methods: The methodology for this study was a qualitative literature review following a systematic approach. The review was limited to sources published from 2000 to 2014 in the English language. Sixty-five sources were …
