Barium is one of those less ubiquitous but potentially harmful contaminants in the environment. Its presence in the environment has been demonstrated. However, securing reliable information about its concentration is hampered by lack of a sensitive, simple, accurate method of analysis. The methods of determination of trace concentrations of barium have been reviewed.

This present work presents a simple, selective, sensitive method for the determination of barium in aqueous systems. The method combines the solvent extraction of the barium hexafluoro acetylacetonate into isoamyl acetate with atomic absorption determination of barium. The purpose of this thesis was to establish the pattern of guilt and redemption of the protagonists in the following novels of Stefan Andres : Der Mann von Asteri (Gratian), Das Grab des Neides (Abel), and Ritter der Gerechtigkeit (Count di Alma and Dino).

The first step in the pattern was the attainment of the guilt. Guilt, according to Stefan Andres, can be attained through either sins of commission or sins of omission. The purpose of this investigation was to measure whether, after group treatment, open ward hospitalized psychiatric patients would demonstrate an increase in ability to describe other people by means of interpersonal constructs. Measuring the ability to describe other people, or more precisely cognitive complexity, has never been undertaken with a hospitalized psychiatric patient population nor has the effect of group treatment on cognitive complexity been examined.

Responses investigated included cognitive complexity before and after four weeks of treatment, variability in description of others depending on sex of the other person and whether he or she was liked or disliked, and …

Repeated Acquisition As A Behavioral Baseline, Donald M. Thompson

The Boren (1963) technique for studying variables affecting acquisition with an individual-S design was modified and used with pigeons. The sensitivity and reversibility of the steady-state baseline were demonstrated by temporarily removing the different Stimuli correlated with the different members of the chain. This “tandem” probe produced a substantial increase in the number of learning errors. © 1970, Psychonomic Journals, Inc.. All rights reserved.
