On The Transition From Shell Structure To Collective Behavior. A Simplified Shell-Model Study, K. T. Hecht, J. B. Mcgrory, J. P. Draayer

To study the feasibility of carrying out shell-model calculations in nuclei with active protons and neutrons in different major shells, the following simple idealized model has been studied: (i) Proton and neutron configurations are chosen to be (f 5 2p 3 2p 1 2)np and (g 7 2d 5 2d 3 2s 1 2)nn, so that results for the separate proton and neutron basis states to be used in any approximation scheme can be compared with the results for exact shell-model calculations, (ii) The proton and neutron single-particle energies for these active shells are separately taken to be degenerate. Jean Charles de Pradel, a younger son of a provincial robe family of Limousin, France, resided in Louisiana for most of the period the colony was under French control. De Pradel's initial encounter with Louisiana was in 1714 when he was assigned to the colony on his first tour of duty in the military. At that time, Louisiana was struggling for its existence against the natural enemies of disease, famine and starvation as well as against the growing threats of conflict with the Spanish in near-by Pensacola and from the English to the north. A Telemetric Study Of The Red Fox In Agricultural Areas Of Southeast Louisiana, George Washington Taylor

The primary study objective was to determine the daily activities of red foxes on agricultural habitat It was also hoped to learn something of the fox's foo preferences and predation on quail, rabbits, deer, an poultry. Information was also desired on optimum met ods of capture, the incidence of rabies, and the use Tranimul and Sernyl as immobilizing drugs. Fifteen red foxes (Vulpes fulva) were trapped during late winter on Louisiana State University property near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Six foxes were equipped with radio transmitters and their movements were monitored by means of portable VHF radio receivers and hand-held antennas. …
