After an impr ssive discussion of the problems relating to the accounting and reporting aspects of corporate social acti­ vities, the 1972 Comnittee on Environmental Effects of Organization Behavior of the American Accounting Association recommended that the accountants should not attempt to measure and report the total social costs of damage to the environment resulting from organi­ zational behavior. The Committee cited several reasons to support the above reconmendation. The major proposal of this study runs counter to the Comnittee's recormr ndation. The purpose of this field study is to provide a descriptive analysis of the rhetoric of physicians (1) as they communicate with their colleagues, and (2) as they communicate with their patients. To obtain the first objective the oral presentations made during weekly conferences by the surgeons at a major hospital were observed for ten a>nths. The physicians' rhetorical training, experience, speech philosophy, and preparation are considered as well as the occasion of the speeches and an analysis of the audience. The results of a shell model calculation for 25Mg-25Al are presented in which the Hamiltonian for the system was taken to be that of an inert 16O core plus nine s-d shell particles interacting through the usual one-body l2 and l · s terms plus general two-body residual interactions of the Kuo-Brown type. The basis was truncated to include nine favored representations of SU(3) in each of the two leading spatial symmetries ([441]: (66), (93), (74), (82)2, (55)2, (28), (90); [432]: (10,1), (74), (82)2, (55)2, (28), (47), (90)). The two major objectives were to investigate methods for drying duckweed and to determine the effect of the methods on the crude protein content of the plant. The drying methods were oven drying, sun drying, pressing with heat, pressing without heat, pressing combined with oven drying, parboiling combined with oven drying and drying in a spouted bed. A series of drying curves were developed for each drying method. Due to the high moisture content of duckweed (92.9 to 94.0% wet basis), the drying curves exhibited a long constant rate drying period as opposed to grain crops and hay. Equations were …

A study was undertaken to determine why DDT residue levels in milk produced on dairies in Northeast Louisiana was much higher than from dairies in other areas of Louisiana. The intensive agricultural practices and interrelationship of dairies and cotton farms in this area were thought to contribute to the contamination of milk.

A relationship expressed as a time/DDT-milk residue effect due to the seasonal application of DDT on cotton was examined. The relationship between milk contaminated with DDT and feed ingredients contaminated with DDT was also investigated.

The objective of this study was to determine the home range and habitat preferences of swamp rabbits in the intermediate (between brackish and fresh) marsh of southwestern Louisiana. A total of 12 instrumented rabbits provided data for home range estimates. Four rabbits were fol lowed during the falI, winter and spring. Average home range for males was 10.60 acres and 5.14 acres for females on an area which had a population density of 7.74 rabbits per acre The most preferred habitat components were wiregrass with baccharis Iess than four feet taII IightIy interspersed. To test the possible usefulness of the pseudo SU(3) coupling scheme a few nuclear properties are examined which can be expected to be governed largely by the (1g 7 22d 3 22d 3 23s 1 2) part of the proton configuration for odd-Z nuclei and the (1h 9 22f 7 22f 5 23p 3 23p 1 2) part of the neutron configuration for odd-N nuclei. The equivalence between these configurations and pseudo oscillator shells (f̃ 7 2f̃ 5 2p̃ 3 2p̃ 1 2) and (g̃ 9 2g̃ natural-parity rotational bands in deformed nuclei can be described approximately by many-particle states …
