Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Residents have a profound and enduring impact on destination environmental sustainability, yet the emotional and trait-level factors of their pro-environmental behavior remain underexplored. Grounded in Broaden-and-Build theory, this study examines whether and how dispositional awe translates into Tibetan residents’ pro-environmental behavior intention. Through four complementary studies combining in-depth interviews (N = 15) and surveys (total N = 800), we demonstrate a consistently strong association between dispositional awe and pro-environmental behavior intention. Two survey-based studies incorporating both self-reported pro-environmental behavior intention and peer-reported pro-environmental behavior reveal that this relationship is partially mediated by connectedness to nature and place identity. By shifting …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Young’s modulus is a critical parameter for evaluating the stability of rock reservoirs, such as CO₂ geological storage. These reservoirs are exposed to chemically corrosions, which alter the pore structure, particularly porosity and pore size heterogeneity, thereby affecting Young’s modulus. This study conducted multiscale experiments to investigate how acid-driven chemical corrosion affects pore structure and its relationship with the Young’s modulus of rocks. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) was used to characterize pore structure evolution, while corrosion mechanisms were examined via mass loss, XRD, pH monitoring, and ion chromatography. Based on the experimental results, a Kinetic Weibull Modulus (KWM) model was …

Crisis, Credit Risk, And Productivity: Lessons From The Vietnamese Banking Sector During Covid-19, Van Nguyen, Phuong Thanh Le, Reza Kiani Mavi, Amir Arjomandi

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

This study investigates how an unprecedented systemic shock, the COVID-19 pandemic, reshaped bank productivity and intermediation efficiency in Vietnam, one of the fastest-growing emerging economies. We develop a novel risk-adjusted total factor productivity (TFP) measure based on the by-production Luenberger–Hicks–Moorsteen (LHM) indicator, which incorporates non-performing loans as undesirable outputs to better capture credit-risk dynamics. Using a balanced panel covering both the pre-pandemic and pandemic periods (2016–2022), our results show that Vietnamese banks experienced a general decline in productivity before and during COVID-19, driven largely by reductions in technical and scale efficiency. However, foreign and state-owned banks recorded stronger technological progress …

Decoupling Sustainability And Performance: How Government Infrastructure Projects In Australia Fare On Strategic Environmental Commitments, Richard Hughes, Kerry Brown

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Australian government organisations are pivotal in helping to meet the United Nations sustainable development goals. Yet while these organisations promote sustainability in their strategic plans, they struggle to embed these same commitments into their own infrastructure and construction projects. This study examines this persistent disconnect using the lens of strategic decoupling, which explains how organisations symbolically align with external expectations while internal practices remain unchanged. Using a two-stage qualitative design, we conducted a positivist discourse analysis of strategic artefacts from six government organisations and a theoretically informed interpretivist analysis of 30 interviews with project professionals, framed by strong structuration theory. …
