In the Fall of 2022, Matt Jones’s Oral History Techniques class conducted a set of interviews documenting the stories behind the student unrest on Eastern Michigan University’s campus from 1966-1972. Dave Barsky was a student at EMU in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was a dedicated student activist, and worked closely with others like Frank Michels on the Second Coming. Barsky was represented by the American Civil Liberties Union after getting expelled from EMU, and continued to be an activist leader.

The Art Of Bringing Stories To Life: An Exploration Of Live Action Adaptations And The Role Of Arts Managers And Producers, Sydney Mae Bumpus

The purpose of this thesis is to explore and expand upon the process of creating live action adaptations of fictional characters from other mediums. This thesis focuses on the pivotal role played by arts managers, better known in the film and TV industry as producers, in bringing these adaptations to life. The contents of this paper provide a comprehensive analysis of the adaptation process, from concept development to production release, emphasizing the multifaceted responsibilities and challenges faced by arts managers and producers. Stereotype Threat Within The Lgbtq+ Community, Chloe Laporte

This study examined stereotype threat for students from the LGBTQ+ community. Stereotype threat can cause negative effects regarding performance and can influence the expression of social behaviors. This project observed differences between LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ identifying groups who believe the study tests performance stereotypes for LGBTQ+ students (or not), on a quantitative test, as well as for responses about social behaviors. I postulated that LGBTQ+ individuals under threat will perform more poorly on the test, and exhibit more problematic social behaviors. The purpose of this project is to create a history wall as a way for the Eastern Michigan University and Ypsilanti communities to learn more about the development of the Honors College. By reviewing previous history wall projects from outside institutions and exploring background research and graphic design ideas, the vision for the wall was formed. The history wall includes information about where the Honors College previously resided, past and current directors and deans, the creation of programs and clubs, and relevant news clippings gathered from the EMU Archives. Puppetry is a special effect- media magic that enhances the flavor of a fictional world. My dream is to harness that magic in order to teach preschoolers about their physical world. Puppets have a unique ability to provide an analogue that children can relate to, which makes them an incredibly effective and engaging vehicle for educational entertainment. My Senior Honors Creative Project is the culmination of studies in childrens’ theatre, media production, and early childhood education at Eastern Michigan University.
