Dynamothermal Metamorphism Of The Chiwaukum Schist In The Steven's Pass Area, Cascade Mountains, Washington, Jennifer A. Davis
Dynamothermal Metamorphism Of The Chiwaukum Schist In The Steven's Pass Area, Cascade Mountains, Washington, Jennifer A. Davis
Senior Honors Theses and Projects
The Chiwaukum Schist in the Steven's Pass region of the North Cascade Mountains, Washington is a metamorphic rock suite of pelitic protolith bordering the Mount Steward Batholith. This clay-right parent material experienced contact metamorphism during the intrusion of the Mount Steward batholith, followed by Buchan style, dynamothermal metamorphism. The minerals produced by these early metamorphic events were later overprinted by minerals of Barrovian style, dynamothermal metamorphism. The index minerals of the contact and Buchan facies metamorphism extend into the andalusite zone, while the Barrovian facies is characterized by aluminosilicate polymorph minerals reaching the sillimanite zone. Calculation of mineral abundances and …

New Learning, New Scholarship, New Spaces: Creating Dynamic Physical Environments, Laurie Alexander, Barbara Macadam
New Learning, New Scholarship, New Spaces: Creating Dynamic Physical Environments, Laurie Alexander, Barbara Macadam
LOEX Conference Proceedings 2008
Learning spaces, such as lecture halls, teaching laboratories, and quiet study nooks are still needed, but no longer fulfill the full range of students’ needs. As students choose to learn in dynamic environments, they need spaces that support intellectual curiosity and facilitate critical inquiry. By implementing a full spectrum of learning spaces, the University of Michigan Library reinforced the message that we are the place on campus where emerging information technologies, rich information resources, and user-focused services come together to support learning and scholarship. This presentation will provide critical concepts that are important to consider when transforming library spaces.

Report On Information Literacy And The Mic: Teaching Higher Education Students Critical Research Skills Using Hip Hop Lyricism, Dara Walker
McNair Scholars Research Journal
Many professors expect undergraduate students to have basic research skills. However, they soon lear that their students are unable to find, sort, and analyze information for research papers and projects. To help students attain these skills, university librarians develop course-related information literacy (IL) sessions for both undergraduate and graduate classes. In this study, I explored the differences and similarities in the objectives, teaching aides, ad final assignments of information literacy instruction which uses the thematic content in conscious hip hop lyricism to reinforce skills learned as compared to other methods. Understanding the differences and similarities may encourage librarians to make …
