Access Or Exclusion? An Analysis Of State Reproductive Rights And Comprehensive Sex Education, Sam Gilbert
Access Or Exclusion? An Analysis Of State Reproductive Rights And Comprehensive Sex Education, Sam Gilbert
Undergraduate Honors Theses
In 2009, Colorado successfully decreased their abortion rate among minors and at-risk teenagers through a privately-funded trial. This outcome was realized by offering affordable, accessible, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare options, specifically long-acting reversible contraception, to young women. Reproductive rights is an issue at the forefront of political discussion, often a determining factor for party identification. The controversy of reproductive rights--in particular, abortion--leads to a higher reliance on hear-say, instead of peer-reviewed literature, statistics, and legislation. In order to gain a well-balanced understanding of abortion politics, I compare three Midwestern states--Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota--to determine their respective policy successes and shortcomings. …

The attempt to increase and maintain stakeholder engagement and interaction is one of the main pursuits for public relations practitioners today. With new and changing ways to reach and engage stakeholders through various social media outlets public relations professionals now more than ever have to find a way to make their products stand out among the multiple messages a person views in a given day. Charlotte Perkins Stetson Gilman (1860-1935) was an accomplished American author who suffered from depression and post-partum depression. Her short story, “The Yellow Wallpaper,” written in June 1890, could be considered both a brief autobiography and a call for help. This well-known work tells the story of a woman trapped within her own declining mental health, using subtle, visual language and downward spiraling imagery to illustrate a woman imprisoned in her own mind, succumbing to the loss of control of her own sanity.

Effects Of Turbidity On The Vision And Behavior Of Longear Sunfish, Lindsey Denea Caudle
Effects Of Turbidity On The Vision And Behavior Of Longear Sunfish, Lindsey Denea Caudle
Undergraduate Honors Theses
Fish are known to use vision in many essential behaviors, including foraging, intraspecific communication and predator avoidance. Turbidity is one of the many environmental factors potentially affecting vision quality. I examined the behavior of interacting conspecific fish in varying levels of turbidity to determine how this environmental variable affects vision and behavior. Experiments were designed to observe how longear sunfish, Lepomis megalotis, reacted to visual cues - in this case a conspecific fish in a glass jar - in the presence or absence of turbidity. My hypothesis is that sunfish will display territorial behavior when introduced to another fish …
