International Yeats Studies
International Yeats Studies was conceived by the organizing board of the International Yeats Society as a means of bringing together national and other Yeats societies around the world. This journal is designed to complement the Yeats Annual, published under the general editorship of Warwick Gould. International Yeats Studies will be published twice a year and aims to include a variety of approaches to the study of Yeats. The editorial board draws together scholars from across the globe, and we hope that when it is possible, the journal will publish important essays translated into English from other languages. In addition …

12th Annual Focus On Creative Inquiry Poster Forum Program, Clemson University
12th Annual Focus On Creative Inquiry Poster Forum Program, Clemson University
Focus on Creative Inquiry
The 2017 Focus on Creative Inquiry Poster Forum displays a selection of the projects accomplished by Clemson University students in their Creative Inquiry teams.
What is Creative Inquiry? It is small-group learning for all students, in all disciplines. It is the imaginative combination of engaged learning and undergraduate research – and it is unique to Clemson University.
In Creative Inquiry, small teams of undergraduate students work with faculty mentors to take on problems that spring from their own curiosity, a professor’s challenge, or the pressing needs of the world around them. Students take ownership of their projects. They ask questions, …

Integrating Multimodal Arguments Into High School Writing Instruction, Emily Howell, Tracy Butler, David Reinking
Integrating Multimodal Arguments Into High School Writing Instruction, Emily Howell, Tracy Butler, David Reinking
Publications
We conducted a formative experiment investigating how an intervention that engaged students in constructing multimodal arguments could be integrated into high school English instruction to improve students’ argumentative writing. The intervention entailed three essential components: (a) construction of arguments defined as claims, evidence, and warrants; (b) digital tools that enabled the construction of multimodal arguments; and (c) a process approach to writing. The intervention was implemented for 11 weeks in high school English classrooms. Data included classroom observations; interviews with the teacher, students, and administrators; student reflections; and the products students created. These data, analyzed using grounded-theory coding and constant-comparison …

Cues To Cervical Cancer Screening Among U.S.-Hispanic Women, Arelis Moore De Peralta, Bonnie Holaday, Ida Mikisa Hadoto
Cues To Cervical Cancer Screening Among U.S.-Hispanic Women, Arelis Moore De Peralta, Bonnie Holaday, Ida Mikisa Hadoto
Publications
Introduction: Hispanic women’s cervical cancer rates are disproportionately high. Cues to cervical cancer screening (Cues to Action) are strategies to activate the decision-making process to get screened for cervical cancer. This study used the health belief model to examine which cues prompt Hispanic women to undergo cervical cancer screening and how perceptions could be potentiated by cues to cervical cancer screening.
Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among Hispanic women 18 to 65 years old (n = 220). Generalized linear modeling was used.
Results: Spanish media and reminders by mother and doctors were relevant cues. Generalized linear modeling showed …

Competing tensions and demands pervade our work lives. Accumulating research examines organizational and leadership approaches to leveraging these tensions. But what about individuals within firms? Although early paradox theory built upon micro-level insights from psychology and philosophy to understand the nature and management of varied competing demands, corresponding empirical studies are rare, offering scarce insights into why some individuals thrive with tensions while others struggle. In response, we contribute to the microfoundations of organizational paradox with a theoretical model and robust measures that help unpack individuals' varied approaches to tensions. Following rigorous scale development in Study 1, including samples from …
Invisibility Through The Interface: The Social Consequences Of Spatial Search, Jordan Frith
Invisibility Through The Interface: The Social Consequences Of Spatial Search, Jordan Frith
Publications
Location-based services are mobile applications that use a device’s location to provide relevant results. Spatial search applications are a popular subset of location-based services that enable people to search through their surrounding space to find nearby locations. This article examines spatial search applications through a framework that combines critical geography research with research on the power search engines exert over information visibility. The main argument of the article is that popular spatial search applications, such as Yelp, may subtly reproduce existing forms of spatial segregation by rendering certain location invisible through the mobile mapping interface.
