Most reference grammars--traditional or transformational-have often treated passive sentences as being para-phrasable, or synonymous, or equivalent to their active counterparts. However, as Celce Murcia* and Larsen-Freeman(1977) point out, there are some differences, not only grammatically, but also semantically, that exist between the active and the passive voice. First of all, passive and active sentences may sometimes differ in meaning—especially when they contain numerals or quantifiers—e.g. the active and passive sentences in the following two pairs are not completely synonymous.

Generally speaking, teaching consists of four basic components : objectives, teaching materials, methods of teaching and evaluation. Before a teacher starts planning a lesson, he should first set the objectives for the course. Therefore he needs to establish very clearly what he should be trying to get his students to achieve. Then he can select the material and choose the methods of teaching appropriate to suit the objective. Finally he needs to assess whether or not the student has achieved what he is expected to acquire at the end of the instructional period or course. Since objectives are essential in …

ตรวจท้องควายปลักที่ท้องจำนวน 43 ตัว และควายเปรียบเทียบ 100 ตัว ด้วยการล้วงตรวจทางทวารหนัก พบความเปลี่ยนแปลงทั้งจากการสังเกตลักษณะภายนอก และภายใน จากภายนอกพบว่า ควายตั้งท้องเลยเดือนที่ 3 ไปแล้ว ขนาดของหน้าท้อง ด้านขวาจะใหญ่กว่ากลุ่มเปรียบเทียบ นอกจากนี้เต้านมจะเริ่มขยายใหญ่หลังการตั้งท้อง เดือนที่ 6 จะพบของเหลวที่หัวนมตั้งแต่เดือนที่ 7 ส่วนการล้วงตรวจทางทวารหนักพบว่า เส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางของคอมดลูกขยายใหญ่จากประมาณ 1 นิ้วถึง 2 นิ้ว จากการท้องระยะ แรกจนท้องแก่ ปีกมดลูกด้านที่ท้องขยายใหญ่คลำพบและประมาณขนาดได้ตั้งแต่เดือนที่ 2 ของการตั้งท้องจนถึงเดือนที่ 5 หลังจากนั้นมดลูกจะถูกดึงให้จมลงไปในช่องท้อง ยากแก่ การคลำพบปีกมดลูก ต้องอาศัยการตรวจพบเส้นเลือดที่ไปเลี้ยงมดลูกซึ่งมีการเต้นแตกต่าง จากปกติ เพราะผนังเส้นเลือดบางและมีเลือดไปเลี้ยงมากเพิ่มขึ้น จะพบว่าลูกลอยขึ้น เมื่อท้องเลย 7 เดือนไปแล้วโดยคลำพบ หัว, ขาลูก ตลอดจน placentomes จากการ ศึกษาครั้งนี้พบว่าควายตั้งท้องทางปีกมดลูกด้านขวาถึง 73% Pregnancy diagnosis was carried on 10 known breeding records, 33 pregnant and 100 control swamp buffalo cows.
