การทดลองครั้งนี้เป็นการทดลองขั้นพื้นฐาน เพื่อทดสอบหาความเป็นไปได้ในการ ผลิตน้ำเชื้อแพะและแกะแช่แข็ง โดยวิธีเดียวกันกับการแช่แข็งน้ำเชื้อโค ซึ่งผลิตที่ศูนย์ผสมเทียม กรมปศุสัตว์ จังหวัดปทุมธานี ทําการรีดเก็บน้ำเชื้อพ่อและพันธุ์ผสม 2 ตัวโดยใช้ เอ.วี. รวม 20 ejaculates และพ่อแกะ 2 ตัว รวม 15 ejaculates นำน้ำเชื้อที่รีดเก็บได้แต่ละครั้ง มาศึกษารายละเอียดเกี่ยวกับปริมาตร ความเข้มข้น การเคลื่อนไหวหมู่ (mass activity) การเคลื่อนไหวของตัวอจิ (motility) แล้วเจือจางด้วยน้ำยาละลายไข่แดงทริส (Egg Yolk Tris) คํานวณให้มีปริมาณของตัวอสุจิ 200 ล้านตัวต่อปริมาตร 0.25 ลบ.ซม. แล้ว ทําการแช่แข็งโดยวิธีเดียวกันกับการแช่แข็งน้ำเชื้อโค จากการทดลองพบว่า น้ำเชื้อพ่อแพะและ แกะที่รีดเก็บได้มีปริมาตรเฉลี่ย 0.98 ± 0.31 ลบ.ซม. และ 0.78 ± 0.26 ลบ.ม. ความเข้มข้นของน้ำเชื้อเฉลี่ย 3,679 ± 1,061 x 10 ตัว/ลบ.ซม. และ 4,242 ± 885 x 106 ตัว/ลบ.ซม., เปอร์เซนต์การเคลื่อนไหวของตัวอสุจิจากน้ำเชื้อที่รีดเก็บได้ (initial motility) เฉลี่ย 82.0 ± 9.0% และ 87.66 ± 5.3% เปอร์เซนต์การ เคลื่อนไหวของตัวอสุจิน้ำเชื้อแช่แข็งที่ละลายแล้ว (post thaw motility) เฉลี่ย 46.25 ± 11.0% และ 46.35 ± 8.3% จากการศึกษาครั้งนี้สรุปได้ว่า น้ำเชื้อพ่อแพะและพ่อแกะสามารถผลิตเป็นน้ำเชื้อแช่แข็งได้ โดยใช้วิธีเดียวกันกับการผลิตน้ำเชื้อแช่แข็งโค ซึ่งคุณภาพจากการตรวจทางห้อง ปฏิบัติการได้มาตรฐานอยู่ในเกณฑ์ดีสามารถนำไปใช้ผสมเทียมได้

กระต่ายพันธุ์นิวซีแลนด์ และ คาลิฟอร์เนีย จำนวนทั้งหมด 125 ตัว ได้รับการ กระตุ้นให้เพิ่มจำนวนการตกไข่ต่อตัวโดยใช้ follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) จำนวน 2.0 มก. ร่วมกับ luteinizing hormone (LH) จำนวน 0.33 มก. อัตราการ ตกไข่ การเก็บไข่และคัพภะปกติได้ถูกเปรียบเทียบในกลุ่มการทดลอง 4 กลุ่ม คือ 24, 48, 65 และ 96 h.pc. (ชม. หลังผสม) โดยพบว่ากลุ่ม 65 h.pc. มีจำนวนการตกไข่น้อยกว่า กลุ่มอื่น ๆ (P < 0.01) และยังพบว่าการเพิ่มการตกไข่ โดยการใช้ฮอร์โมน FSH-LH มีผล เสียในลดจำนวนเปอร์เซ็นต์การเก็บไข่และคัพภะปกติ (P < 0.01) ในกลุ่ม 96 h.pc. เมื่อ เทียบกับกลุ่ม 24 h.pc.

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Gill lamellae from the snakehead fish (Ophicephalus striatus) in recent massive outbreak of fish disease in Thailand were studied by light and scanning electron microscopy. The pathological findings were non-specific and were not suggestive of any causative organism or agent. Bacteria, fungi and protozoa were not identified. Apart from frank necrosis in some area of the gill lamellae, swelling of the covering epithelial cells as evidenced by bulging of the cell surface, distortion and reduction of the microvilli and ridges and complete loss of the microvilli and ridges, was a constant finding. ปัจจุบันเทคโนโลยีย้ายฝากตัวอ่อนได้เข้ามามีบทบาทต่อการเพิ่มผลผลิตในวงการปศุสัตว์ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในโค, แพะ, แกะ, และม้า เป็นต้น ด้วยเหตุที่การย้ายฝาก ตัวอ่อนสามารถเพิ่มปริมาณและคุณภาพของสัตว์ที่มีคุณสมบัติเป็นเลิศได้ในระยะเวลารวดเร็วที่สุด ในขณะนี้ ฉะนั้นจึงควรพิจารณากันถึงประวัติความเป็นมาของการศึกษาวิจัยการย้ายฝากตัวอ่อน ว่าเริ่มกันมาตั้งแต่เมื่อไร กว่าจะเป็นเทคโนโลยีที่สามารถใช้ได้ดีในปัจจุบันและแนวโน้ม ในอนาคตจะพัฒนาไปอย่างไรบ้าง การย้ายฝากตัวอ่อนมิได้เป็นเทคโนโลยีเริ่มพัฒนากันในปัจจุบันแต่เป็นวิชาการที่ เริ่มต้นกันมาไม่น้อยกว่า 95 ปี มีรายงานการย้ายฝากตัวอ่อนเป็นครั้งแรกของโลกโดย Heape (1890) นักวิทยาศาสตร์ผู้ซึ่งทําการศึกษาวิจัย อยู่เมืองเคมบริดจ์ ประเทศอังกฤษ ได้ดูดตัวอ่อนจากกระต่ายตัวให้ แล้วย้ายฝากตัวอ่อนให้กระต่ายตัวรับ (Donor) (Recipient) ในวันที่ 27 เมษายน 2433 ในที่สุดวันที่ 29 พฤษภาคม 2433 กระต่ายตัวรับได้คลอดลูกออก มา 1 ตัว มีสุขภาพสมบูรณ์ปกติ หลังจากนั้น Heape ได้พยายามศึกษาวิจัยต่อมาแต่การทดลอง ส่วนใหญ่ไม่ประสบผลสำเร็จเนื่องจากการตายของตัวรับอันมีสาเหตุมาจากการทําให้กระต่ายสลบโดยใช้คลอโรฟอร์มและกระต่ายไม่สมบูรณ์พันธุ์ อย่างไรก็ตามเขาก็ประสบความสำเร็จอีก ครั้งโดยได้ลูกกระต่ายออกมา 8 ตัว แต่มีเพียง 1 ตัวเท่านั้นที่สามารถมีชีวิตรอดมาได้ (Heape, 1897)
