Development And Validation Of Cell-Based Method For The Determination Of Nimotuzumab Potency, Ing-Orn Prasanchaimontri, Phannarak Khruaplao, Boontarika Boonyapiwat
The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Nimotuzumab has been used for treating squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Its efficacy is attributed to its mechanism of action, which involves the binding to the epidermal growth factor receptor. Ensuring the quality of nimotuzumab is crucial for its safety and efficacy. Utilizing a binding assay to measure its efficacy is a valid approach since it directly correlates with its potency. Here, we developed and validated the cell-based binding assay to determine the potency of nimotuzumab. A-431 cells and fluorescein isothiocyanate mouse anti-human immunoglobulin G antibody were used and the fluorescent intensity was measured to evaluate the …

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Quercetin (QE) is a flavonoid found in several fruits and vegetables such as shallot, onion, and apple with proven antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that protect against and treat airway inflammation induced by particulate matter. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) with various liquid lipid types were employed to deliver QE into the respiratory tract. Physical properties of NLC formulations including particle size, stability, and entrapment efficiency were compared. Particle size of B_VCO and B_OLO formulations was 308.0 ± 0.4 nm and 104.8 ± 1.5 nm, respectively. After the temperature cycling test, particle size of B_OLO increased, while B_VCO was not significantly different. …

Skin Irritation Of Capsicum Patches By In Vitro Study And Human Repeated Insult Patch Test., Apirada Sucontphunt, Tun Chusut, Thaniya Wannakup, Paninee Chetprayoon, Laksana Charoenchai
The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
The use of capsaicin, a natural active compound for pain management, in various health products has continuously increased. Capsaicin has been shown to suppress pain by decreasing substance P; however, the safety information of capsaicin formulations requires support from numerous studies. For that reason, in this research, the skin irritancy of a capsaicin hydrogel transdermal patch was evaluated and compared to that of a commercial relief patch by in-vitro skin irritation and a human repeated insult patch test (HRIPT). In-vitro skin irritation of samples was performed using reconstructed human epidermis. The percentage of tissue viability was evaluated and compared. For …

Abstract
A case report of Rosai-Dorfman disease (sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy) of the breast is one of the rare diseases, characterized by benign proliferative disorder of histiocyte. Most occur within lymph nodes whereas the rest involve extranodal sites. Breast involvement is considered extremely rare but considerable because of radiological findings simulating breast cancer. We report the case of a 59-year-old Thai woman who underwent screening mammography. Her biopsy resulted in abnormal histiocytes with S-100 protein expression, some of them with emperipolesis (lymphophagocytosis). Recognition of Rosai-Dorfman disease leads to correct diagnosis and further appropriate proper treatment strategy.
