An Evaluation Of Lead Concentrations In Surface Soils And Sediments Within Lytle Creek Drainage Basin, Harvey Clark Norton
Theses Digitization Project
This paper represents a master's project that is a preliminary surface soil survey of the Lytle Creek sub-Watershed, near Devore, California. The sub-Watershed is a recreational site within the San Bernardino National Forest. This study was undertaken to determine the concentration of lead and lead salts within the soils and sediments within the watershed, and to determine if these products pose a threat to the health of the local environment and human consumers from the watershed. Possible sources of lead contamination include natural background geology, contamination of historical use of gasoline with lead additives, and the presence of outdoor shooting …

Estimated Area Of Impervious Parking Surfaces And The Potential Groundwater Recharge Increase Through Permeable Pavement Retrofit In The Chino Basin, Zablon Afera Adane
Estimated Area Of Impervious Parking Surfaces And The Potential Groundwater Recharge Increase Through Permeable Pavement Retrofit In The Chino Basin, Zablon Afera Adane
Theses Digitization Project
California recently declared a state of emergency over drought followiing three years of below average rain and snowfall. There is a consensus among many involved in water supply in California for finding new sources of water, conservation, and increasing recharge to replenish the groundwater with surface water that would have been lost to run off. This study investigates the amount of stormwater that could potentially be reinvested as groundwater recharge by simply transforming selected impermeable parking lots of the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors into pervious pavement that allow water to infiltrate rather than be lost as urban runoff.

Theses Digitization Project
This project will explore the environmental benefits of sustainable land use practices as defined in the Ahwahnee Water Principles for Resource Efficient Land Use. These principles identify resource efficient land use practices that local communities can implement. City ordinances contain barriers to prevent the implementation of Ahwahnee Water Principles. The city of Ontario's municipal code, New Model Colony General Plan, and several specific area plans as well as San Bernardino's general plan, municipal code, and University Hills Specific Plan were analyzed to identify preventions and promotions of these water principles. It was discovered both cities have high percentages in the …
