Sel-311l Overreaching Impedance Pilot Protection Laboratory, Brandon Van Loon Jun 2015

Sel-311l Overreaching Impedance Pilot Protection Laboratory, Brandon Van Loon

Electrical Engineering

The objective of this senior project is to protect a three terminal transmission line during fault conditions using the SEL-311L microprocessor based relay and communication assisted permissive over-reaching transfer trip protection (POTT). The SEL-311L’s directional distance elements are programmed to trip on internal faults while faults external to the zones of protection are ignored. Upon sensing a fault condition, the relay issues a trip command to the local breaker and a permissive key for tripping to the remote relay via fiber optic communication. When a permissive key is received and all other permissive conditions have been satisfied, the remote relay …

Crash: A Real-Time 3d Game Engine Designed To Make Game Development Easy, Christopher Patton

Computer Science and Software Engineering

Developing games on top of commercial game engines is difficult because the projects are too large to quickly understand. We present Crash: an alternative solution to game development that empowers developers to begin working on a game with very little introduction to the project by building a small, extensible, and modular game engine. Design patterns such as dependency injection and interface-based development encourage simple, understandable code and empower developers to divert their efforts toward the playable components of their games.

Hydrologic Response To Conifer Removal From An Encroached Mountain Meadow, Gregory F. Van Oosbree Jun 2015

Hydrologic Response To Conifer Removal From An Encroached Mountain Meadow, Gregory F. Van Oosbree

Master's Theses

Meadows in the Sierra Nevada Mountains are an important ecological resource that have degraded in quality and distribution due to several environmental and anthropogenic stressors. The encroachment of conifers beyond forest meadow ecotones is largely responsible for the decline of meadow habitat throughout the past century. Currently, there is little research that quantifies the hydrologic response to removal of conifers encroaching meadows in terms of implicating successful meadow restoration. This study has implemented a before after control intervention (BACI) study design to determine the hydrologic response associated with the removal of conifers from a historic meadow encroached by conifers. The …
