Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports
This document is the report of the culminating experience as part of the master’s program in fire protection engineering at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. This report contains a life safety analysis of the fire protection systems of a chosen project building. The building examined is the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, located on the University of California Davis campus. Communicative Design: Transit Architecture For Growing Cities, James Derek Holloway
Communicative Design: Transit Architecture For Growing Cities, James Derek Holloway
Master's Theses
Increasing urban populations are currently magnifying the importance of the transit station in the context of its surrounding systems. In order to prepare our cities for higher population densities in the future, an examination of the relationships between station form and individual experience may lead to the identification of specific design objectives with implications for increased public transit riderships. Data is collected through research on sensory perception in architecture, spatial organization, and connectivity between an individual structure and it’s local surroundings. Site-specific observations and information describing current professional practices are used to determine prominent design objectives for future implementation.

The Role Of Social Media In The Fashion Industry: How Fashion Blogging Encourages Two-Way Symmetrical Communication, Leila Durmaz
Journalism
Over the past few years, social media and digital media have drastically changed how people consume content, especially in the fashion industry. Today, content is consumed online and people are not only reading content, but they are offering their feedback through comments and social media. Multiple types of fashion blogs managed by everyday people are giving consumers an inside look into what used to be an exclusive, fashion-experts-only industry. This study looks at fashion blogging and social media within the fashion industry and how it …
Virtual Reality Engine Development, Varun Varahamurthy
Virtual Reality Engine Development, Varun Varahamurthy
Master's Theses
With the advent of modern graphics and computing hardware and cheaper sensor and display technologies, virtual reality is becoming increasingly popular in the fields of gaming, therapy, training and visualization. Earlier attempts at popularizing VR technology were plagued by issues of cost, portability and marketability to the general public. Modern screen technologies make it possible to produce cheap, light head-mounted displays (HMDs) like the Oculus Rift, and modern GPUs make it possible to create and deliver a seamless real-time 3D experience to the user. 3D sensing has found an application in virtual and augmented reality as well, allowing for a …
