Effects Of The Rhya On Lgbtq Homeless Youth, Bailey Barton
Effects Of The Rhya On Lgbtq Homeless Youth, Bailey Barton
Paideia
The United States government passed the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) in 1974. This piece of legislation provides federal funding for homeless youth programs, defines who is considered a homeless youth, and regulates what shelters and government agencies can do for youth who have run away from home or become homeless. This legislation, however, makes no mention of LGBT homeless youth, even though they are disproportionately represented in homeless youth populations. LGBT homeless youth often experience discrimination and abuse due to their unique identity, in addition to the other negative effects of homelessness on youth. Many are discriminated against …

Immigration, Incarceration, Deportation: Asian Americans In The Criminal Justice System, Agnes Mung
History
Asian Americans have been long overlooked in the United States for their contributions and have been restricted by ever-changing stereotypes and perceptions. Within the Asian American community, the incarcerated population and former criminals have been hidden because of cultural stigmas and missing statistics. In the 1980s, a large population of Asian American youth were becoming involved in criminal activity because of difficulty adapting to life in the United States after arriving at a young age. Gang membership and racial profiling increased the chances that Asian Americans would be arrested, although Asian Americans are less likely to be sentenced to prison …

City and Regional Planning
Autonomous vehicles (AVs) will bring one of the largest revolutions to the nation’s transportation system, with major changes in planning policies and the urban environment. While AVs have already been introduced to our mobility network, they still require a human operator behind the wheel. In coming years, as AV technology becomes more sophisticated, it will begin to dominate the roadways due to the technologies ability to maneuver at a much high accuracy and predictability than human drivers. This transition into an AV oriented future will promote road safety, increase productivity, reduce travel and labor costs, and reinvent the urban landscape.
