Scrupulosity, also known as religious OCD, is often misunderstood and under-recognized by those who have experienced it. This research adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating experience design theories and frameworks with research on scrupulosity, to develop an event that aims to increase awareness and empathy among attendees for individuals who experience scrupulosity. The experience design frameworks applied include the design thinking process, the self-determination theory, and the experience-type framework. Current research suggests that there is a need for further research on the case studies and qualitative phenotypes of individuals who have experienced scrupulosity, which this study aims to address.

All organisms depend on cellular signaling pathways to dictate cell growth, responses to stimuli, and all other cellular functions necessary to maintain health and survival. Many of these signals rely on G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) and their associated heterotrimeric G proteins for signal detection and transduction. To perform this function, the three subunits of the G protein must be assembled after synthesis on the ribosome. This process requires additional proteins called molecular chaperones to assist in folding of the subunits and assembly into the G protein heterotrimer. A New Approach To Stability Of Delay Differential Equations With Time-Varying Delays Via Isospectral Reduction, Quinlan Leishman

Understanding how time delays impact the stability of a delay differential equation is important for modeling many natural and technological systems that experience time delays. Here we introduce a new stability criterion for delay-independent stability of these equations, called intrinsic stability, showing global exponential stability for a large class of nonautonomous nonlinear systems. Our approach is able to incorporate bounded time-varying delays, including those with certain types of discontinuities. In Math 112 at BYU, exams play a crucial role in evaluating students' understanding of the course content. Traditionally, these exams are a combination of multiple-choice and free-response questions, with the latter serving as a means to assess a student's thought process while solving problems. Will students perform as well on a multiple-choice exam? Or will students' averages be higher on free-response exams? In this thesis, we test 7 hypotheses related to these questions to provide more insight into the answer. Sacred Bonds: The Association Between Religious Giving And Relationship Quality, Sofia C. Suxo-Sanchez

Grounded in interdependence theory, we sought to understand how religious giving is associated with relationship quality by drawing on two distinct datasets, one from emerging adult couples and another from established couples. Using structural equation modeling, we tested the direct association between religious giving and relationship quality, and whether it was mediated by materialism. Our quantitative findings contrasted previous research; we did not find materialism to mediate the association and found a significant, negative association between religious giving and relationship quality. Through a team-based coding approach, we explored how and why established couples believed religious giving impacted their relationship quality. …

Temperature measurements at the inlet of a gas turbine inlet have proven challenging due to the high flow velocities, limited space, and high temperatures. This work investigates the use of the Integrated Spectral Band Ratio (ISBR) method to measure temperature using a new set of gas bands and a new method for collecting, measuring m and converting raw signals to digital temperature data at low cost and high speed (4 Hz). While telepsychology has existed in various forms for years and has been researched since the 1960s (Abrams, 2020), it was not until the COVID-19 pandemic that telepsychology started to be widely used. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, one study found that psychologists conducted only around 7% of their work via telepsychology, a number that jumped to over 85% in response to COVID-19 (Pierce, Perrin, Tyler, et al., 2020). Web scraping, a technique for collecting publicly available online data, may facilitate collecting school meal data from large, national samples of school districts in a timely, cost-effective manner. We explore its potential by examining the variation in sodium content of 2 popular entrees served through the US Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch Program—pizza and chicken nuggets. Daily school menu data were obtained from a national sample of school districts via web scraping. In 1882, Chinese immigrants were deemed by Congress to be a corrupting influence in America; thus the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed, barring Chinese laborer immigration and the naturalization of Chinese immigrants. Their foreign cultural customs made them “unassimilable,” and their strong work ethic and acceptance of extremely low wages “rendered them an economic threat and thus targets of racial violence”.
