Quality Improvement Project New And Novice Nurse Faculty: Orientation Bootcamp, Megan Titus

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

The ongoing shortage of nurse educators across the United States has led to a critical need among nursing programs, particularly in rural areas. A quality improvement project was developed in response to literature regarding the need for new and novice nurse educator orientation programs and limited structured onboarding at the implementation site. The quality improvement project implemented an orientation boot camp for new and novice nurse educators. Guided by Benner’s Novice to Expert Theory (Benner, 2023) and Lippitt’s Phases of Change Theory (Barrow, 2022), the project aimed to enhance faculty preparedness through educational support related to seventeen key nursing education …

Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions (IMBCR) detection data for the state of Utah, USA, and LANDFIRE uncharacteristic exotic Departure Score data over Utah during our study period, as well as additional environmental covariates used to make the model more ecologically accurate. Environmental covariates include average May precipitation, average June temperature, distance to the nearest road, percent canopy cover, and the percent of three habitat types as defined by LANDFIRE; open tree canopy, herbaceous, and shrubland.

Pint-Sized Advisories is a game inspired by Nintendo's WarioWare series made for the ODU Serious Games Jam of Spring 2025, where it won 2nd place out of 11 entries overall, winning first in the "Fun Factor" category, while tying for first in "Rhetoric" and "Theme". The game covers themes of environmental friendliness on an individual level: within the story, an organization is making "micro-PSAs" to hold the attention spans of teenagers. Combating climate change has emerged as a global concern recently, and meteorological data remain an important measure for analyzing and predicting climate trends. However, ground weather stations and sensors can be impacted by faults due to accidents and unreliability, often resulting in, for example, missing data and lowering the overall quality of the data. This paper explores the impact of using satellite data as an input feature for machine learning algorithms. In particular, temperature, pressure, wind speed, and global horizontal radiation data are imputed using various machine learning algorithms to overcome potential data quality issues resulting from the ground stations. …

An activity on the difference between resistant & persistent bacterial cells. This activity aims to build on the pre-lecture materials about resistant bacterial cells, so that students can make a connection toward persistent cells. In both cases, they make antibiotics less effective.

In today's media landscape, where consumers are overloaded with information and have shorter attention spans, digital marketers face significant difficulty in grabbing and holding customers' attention. This research examines how visual attention affects the processing of advertising stimuli. It does this by using eye-tracking technology to determine where branding components should be placed in digital ads to maximize processing efficiency and perceptual salience. The research shows that placing branding features strategically in the top central part of the advertisement can greatly increase visual attention and subsequent recall by analyzing fixation patterns and saccadic behavior. a-Crystallin (aABc) is a major protein comprised of aA-crystallin (aAc) and aB-crystallin (aBc) that is found in the human eye lens and works as a molecular chaperone by preventing the aggregation of proteins and providing tolerance to stress. However, with age and cataract formation, the concentration of aABc in the eye lens cytoplasm decreases, with a corresponding increase in the membrane-bound aABc. Highly concentrated lens proteins, mostly β- and γ-crystallin, are responsible for maintaining the structure and refractivity of the eye lens. However, with aging and cataract formation, β- and γ-crystallin are associated with the lens membrane or other lens proteins forming high-molecular-weight proteins, which further associate with the lens membrane, leading to light scattering and cataract development. The mechanism by which β- and γ-crystallin are associated with the lens membrane is unknown. Purpose: To elucidate the mechanical properties of the bovine lens cortical membrane (CM), the nuclear membrane (NM) containing cholesterol bilayer domains (CBDs), and whole bovine lenses.

Methods: The total lipids (lipids plus cholesterol) from the cortex and nucleus of a single bovine lens were isolated using the monophasicmethanol extraction method. Supported CMs and NMs were prepared from total lipids extracted from the cortex and nucleus, respectively, using a rapid solvent exchange method and probe-tip sonication, followed by the fusion of unilamellar vesicles on a flat, freshly cleaved mica surface.
