Symmetry Induced Pairing In Dark Excitonic Condensate At Finite Temperature, Adham Alkady, Anatoly Kuklov

Publications and Research

Bose Einstein condensate of dark intervalley excitons must be inherently multi-component because of crystalline symmetries. Since valleys hosting such excitons are separated by large quasi-momenta, a minimal inter-component Josephson-type coupling can only be established between pairs of excitons from the time-reversed valleys. As a result, a paired condensate can emerge at finite temperature, that is, the off-diagonal order exists for the pairs from the time-reversed valleys, while the individual valleys are disordered. This prediction follows from the elementary mean field analysis regardless of the dimensionality. However, as Monte Carlo simulations show, no such a phase exists in 3D crystals. Instead, …

Vaccination is a cost-effective public health intervention that has saved many lives and improved well-being [1]. Between 2011 and 2020, over 20 million deaths were believed to have been averted due to vaccinations in GAVI supported countries [2]. Moreover, globally, Carter et al. estimated additional 51 million deaths are expected to be prevented from vaccines between 2021 and 2030 [3]. Yet, despite the importance of vaccines, there have been concerns about low uptake of vaccines globally [4,5]. This concern was accentuated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Urban environments can have the connotation, at least within the continental United States, as lacking in green space and not being central to a city’s appeal, whether this is true or not, it means that there is a gap in what the development and integration of what environmental-based programming can look like within urban environments. The data contained in this dataset cover the 2024 Presidential election results. Also included in this dataset are the winner results for the 2016 and 2020 election. Data were sourced from finalized (certified) state election board results wherever possible. All data is reported at the county level. Refer to the Presidential Election General Election 2024 Data Dictionary for a full list of data sources. To view a list of all variables included in this dataset, please see the Presidential Election General Election 2024 Codebook.

Introduction: Birth centers are an underused care setting with potential to improve birth experience and satisfaction. Both hospital-based and freestanding birth centers operate with the midwifery model of care that focuses on safe, low-intervention physiologic birth experiences for healthy, low-risk pregnant people. However, financial barriers limit freestanding birth center sustainability and accessibility in New Jersey, especially for traditionally marginalized populations. This qualitative study explores the financial barriers faced by freestanding birth centers in order to expand access and choice for pregnant people in New Jersey. Party polarization is increasing and is especially evident in American politics. Among normal, everyday people, however, there is less clarity about how this affects their daily lives. While it may be obvious that many Democrats do not like most Republicans and many Republicans do not like most Democrats, it is not obvious how these internal biases and group identifications within partisanship affect how people see others. The faith of Flannery O’Connor, a Catholic writer, creates a unique tension within her short stories, between the grotesque aspects of the natural world and the sanctity of the divine. Her work “A Temple of the Holy Ghost” exemplifies this tension as a young female narrator encounters an unexpected transformative experience after her two cousins see a “hermaphrodite”[1] at a local “freak show.” In “A Temple of the Holy Ghost,” Flannery O’Connor employs the hermaphrodite character as a vessel for the narrator to explore the mysterious virtue of purity as she matures both literally and spiritually. This has led to the preservation of 63 National Parks across the country—said to be “America’s Best Idea.” However, these lands for centuries were inhabited by Indigenous Americans. This paper studies the early stages of three National Parks—Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Glacier—and examines the original values they were founded on. Background/Objectives: Anthocyanin (ACN)-rich foods may support gut health by modulating the microbiome and reducing inflammation, potentially lowering the risk of colitis-associated colorectal cancer. However, the dynamic response of the gut microbiome to ACN-rich diets is not well characterized, including in the context of structural and compositional differences among ACN-containing foods. This study examined the temporal response of the mouse gut microbiome to dietary ACNs, focusing on the impact of structural variation. We hypothesized that microbiome shifts would occur rapidly but require sustained dietary ACN intake to persist.
