There have been numerous occasions when a great power has become involved in another country’s civil war. Whether induced by the invading great power or caused internally, the balance of power in civil wars can be shaped by the presence of a great power. However, the purpose of my question is to redirect the attention away from the great power leaving and focus on the domestic and regional impacts of such events. To answer this question, I examine two case studies of when the United States withdrew itself from a civil war, namely Iraq in 2011 and Vietnam in 1973. …

This dataset focuses on protists in the phylum Ciliophora collected at stations spanning the continental shelf in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico aboard the R/V Bellows research cruise, BE-1301. The dataset contains raw sequences from cloned rRNA genes, 95 per sample, 25 samples for oceanographic stations covering the northeast Gulf of Mexico continental shelf and DeSoto Canyon in February and July of 2012. The raw sequences contain primer segments and about 5% non-ciliate sequences, mostly radiolarians and acantharians. Edited sequences were binned at 95% similarity for ecological analysis and sequences representative of bins have been uploaded to Genbank as numbers …

Cooling air is supplied using a combination arrangement, with cross-flow and impingement together. Development of new host materials containing heavy elements for radiation detection is highly desirable. In this work, dibarium octafluorohafnate, Ba2HfF8, doped with rare-earth ions, was synthesized as cube-shaped nanocrystalsviaa facile hydrothermal method. The host lattice contains two Ba2+crystallographic sites, and dopants on these sites exhibit site-dependent photoluminescence (PL), cathodoluminescence (CL) and X-ray excited radioluminescence (RL) characteristics. Single doping contents were optimized as 25 mol% Tb3+and 5 mol% Eu3+. In Ba2HfF8:Tb3+-Eu3+codoped nanocrystals, preferrable occupation of Eu3+and Tb3+at two different Ba2+sites in the host lattice was observed. The nanocubes exhibited enhanced emissions over micron sized particles. In PL, the presence of Tb3+ions …
