The .rd7 files are the type generated by MALA GPR systems to record raw data (they are unprocessed binary data files containing the recorded electrical signals), along with .cor (coordinate data), .mrk (markers on radargrams), .mrkj (modern version of .mrk), and .rad (header file; contains survey parameters, antenna frequency, samples per trace, time window, and velocity) files. The info.dat file was derived from GPR-Slice. It is a critical ASCII text file that maps the GPR radargram filenames to their specific spatial positions. Artifact_Table and Artifact_List are very large files.

Photographs of site datums used during UMass Boston archaeological work at Sylvester Manor. File names contain the datum name followed by a sequential number. Each datum contains a set of multiple photographs showing its location at a near and far scale, illustrating its exact spot and place in the broader landscape, respectively. Some datums have photographs showing how the survey rod needs to be placed, and some have images that include a pin flag with the datum name written on it. Includes zipped folder.

The use of single-seat districts and majoritarian rules for legislative elections is associated with many problems in American politics. However, this method of electing legislators to the U.S. House of Representatives can be reformed through acts of Congress. We investigate the potential of mixed-member electoral systems, which have gained popularity among reformers for potentially providing the “best of both worlds." We review the comparative scholarship to clarify the mechanics of mixed-member systems, particularly how mixed-member proportional systems (MMP) balance the representational goals of dyadic, localized representation with proportional party representation. This thesis reconstructs the life and career of photographer Dody Weston Thompson (1923-2012), presenting a narrative that has been absent from photographic history. Dody trained beneath significant figures like Edward Weston and Josef Albers, exhibited among some of the most canonical figures in photographic history, and served as a founding member of Aperture magazine—one of the foremost photographic journals to this day. Despite this, there has been no academic scholarship on Dody’s life or career, leaving her largely absent from the art-historical record.

Pollination studies generally emphasize bees, although flies are abundant flower visitors and may remain active under conditions in which bees do not forage. Pollination success depends not only on how much pollen is carried but also if the pollen is carried on body surfaces likely to contact flower stigmas. We compared exposed pollen load and its body placement on 527 bee (Hymenoptera) and fly (Diptera) specimens collected in a commercial apple orchard. Pollen was quantified by direct microscope counts for 376 specimens and hemocytometer wash counts for an additional 151 specimens. Pollen concentrated within scopae and corbiculae, which is less …

Research Data

The Spring Pygmy Sunfish, Elassoma alabamae (Mayden, 1993), is a small species of sunfish (Centrarchiformes) endemic to tributaries to the middle Tennessee River in north Alabama. Elassoma alabamae is the most geographically restricted member of Elassoma and the only species found above the fall line. This species was twice considered extinct and was listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) as threatened in 2013. To date, surveys for this species have been limited to traditional invasive methods using dipnets and seines. In order to reduce impacts on sensitive populations, we sequenced the mitochondrial genome with the intent of developing a …
