The ideal aeronautical solid-state fuel should possess a high density (more thrust per Newton’s Third Law), high gravimetric heat of combustion (more energy for less weight), and a high volumetric heat of combustion (more room for mission-critical items). In this work, manganese diboride (MnB2) demonstrates a high density of 5.3 g/cm3, a high gravimetric heat of combustion of 38.30 kJ/g, and the highest volumetric heat of combustion of any known fuel of 202.99 kJ /cm3. Maine experienced its highest water level ever recorded on January 13, 2024, just two days after another winter storm with an even higher storm surge on a smaller tide. In this study, we aimed to quantify the impact of these storms along five shorelines in York County, Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Fortunes Rocks, Middle, Biddeford Pool, and Hills, in Biddeford, and Camp Ellis, Ferry, and Bayview beaches in Saco. This dataset encompasses 44 Panasonic UR18650AA cells cycled under 11 unique conditions until an end-of-life of 65% remaining capacity. Cycling tests were performed under ambient conditions (~22 degrees Celsius) and were interrupted approximately every 3.5 days (~100 cycles, depending on the charge rate, discharge rate, and depth of discharge) to perform a reference performance test (RPT). During the RPT, the cell’s remaining capacity is measured, and 100-second-long, 1C constant-current pulses are conducted at nine states of charge (SOC): 10%, 20%, …, and 90%. This dataset contains analyses of approximately weekly snow cover time series for 200 glaciers in western North America from 2013 to 2023. Snow cover was classified using the "glacier-snow-cover-mapping" package applied to Landsat 8/9 and Sentinel-2 imagery. Key analyses include climate cluster assignments, minimum snow cover statistics, uncertainty assessments of glacier accumulation area ratios snowline altitudes, and comparisons between remotely-sensed snow cover and modeled glacier snowlines and surface mass balance from PyGEM. The mammalian genome contains ~20,000 genes. Some of these genes are essential for the cellular processes of most, if not all, cells, and are therefore expressed across a variety of cell types. Other genes, however, are involved in specialized processes such as defense against pathogens. These immunity-related genes are often only expressed in immune cells that require them to function. The dataset was generated by a study titled “The Electoral College in the American Mind,” the purpose of which was to better understand people’s thoughts and feelings about the Electoral College. The study’s survey instrument was a questionnaire that posed thirty Electoral College-themed questions: twenty-eight of the questions were written in a multiple-choice format; two were written in an open-ended format. Fasting and caloric restriction are effective to treat patients with pre-diabetes or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but intensive lifestyle changes are difficult for many to implement and sustain. Therefore, by identifying and studying fasting-mediated signals, we hope to elicit and convey the therapeutic effects of fasting against MASLD without actual physiological fasting. We discovered a key pathway in the liver through unbiased transcriptomic screening in fasted mice, a novel glucose fasting-activated effector: the amino acid hydrolase, arginase 2 (ARG2). Improving the quality of irrigated pastures can increase the profitability of ruminant production systems. Increasing pasture plant biodiversity is beneficial for ruminants, pollinators, and soil health, but it is challenging to manage weed incursion in seeded mixed-species pastures. This study assessed the weed incursion that resulted when forage legumes or grasses were seeded as binary mixtures with one of four non-legume forbs. Defoliation occurred at 6-week intervals as either mowing or mob grazing. Native fishes face imperilment due to habitat loss and fragmentation, megadrought, invasive species, and synergies amongst threats. These threats coalesce at Glen Canyon Dam (GCD), which impounds the Colorado River to create Lake Powell, a reservoir inhabited by a suite of nonnative fishes. Water level in Lake Powell has declined precipitously due to water overallocation and megadrought, increasing the risk of nonnative fish entrainment through the dam, as the penstocks draw water from the epilimnion. The PSTDL was a recipient of a 2020 NASA’s Lunar Surface Technology Research grant (LuSTR20) for the development of a lunar prospecting instrument known as the Percussive Hot Cone Penetrometer (PHCP) in combination with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The goal of this project is to produce a science instrument that is capable of probing the lunar surface up to a depth of 1 meter to extract the geotechnical properties of the lunar regolith, identifying the vertical and lateral concentrations of volatiles present.
