Coffee Drinking And Leukocyte Telomere Length: A Meta-Analysis, Bella Kotlyar

Telomeres are long tandem nucleotide repeats responsible for maintaining chromosomal integrity. They shorten with each cell division, serving as markers for cellular aging and replicative ability, and shorter telomere length has been associated with greater risk of various chronic diseases of aging. There is increasing interest in the relationship between telomere length and lifestyle factors, such as components of the diet, that are associated with age-related chronic diseases, like cancer and diabetes.

There is mounting evidence that coffee, one of the most commonly consumed beverages in the world, has potential protective effects against chronic disease and mortality. Few studies have …

Our project consisted of raising money for the Twin Falls Animal Shelter. The group had baskets donated that we then sold raffle tickets for. All proceeds were used to purchase items off of the Twin Falls Animal Shelter's Wish List, and the items were donated to the shelter.

This presentation is a report on an ELL teacher’s mainstream class observations, co-teaching experiences with a local language arts teacher, and surveying with students for a semester. As Short and Echevarria (2016) state, “academic language is a second language for all students” (p. 2) and every student is an academic English learner. This study examines how teachers find the gap between theory and practice by taking on multiple roles in classrooms and providing diverse support (Gottlieb, 2015). They face many obstacles varying from acute illnesses to cancer and burn wounds or even dealing with the stress of a sick family member. Street youth in Eldoret, Kenya are at a high risk of experiencing psychological conditions like Post-traumatic Stress Disorder with contributing factors including homelessness, an unstable family structure, and exposure to alcoholism and drug abuse in parent figures. As group for a communications course at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI), we were a part of a service learning project. The project goal was to do a coat drive for the college refugee program. We wanted to help supply coats for those who perhaps don't have the means of buying coats for themselves or for their family. We got the word out by creating and posting flyers, and posting in the college newsletter. We set up donation boxes around the college. We were able to donate two giant Home Depot boxes of coats to the program.

Stanford’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory launched a new summer camp for high school girls to envision themselves in STEAM careers and is in the midst of upgrading the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) for experiments that sharpen our view of how nature works on the atomic level and on ultrafast timescales. My work included testing and streamlining the technological processes for human cost-savings, eliminating redundancy, and providing cleaner data for the engineers in the vacuum laboratory and the educational processes for the camp.

Having to constantly shift materials to make space while maintaining call number order can be challenging and time consuming, particularly when needing to move materials quickly. Most of the library literature around alternative shelving systems is focused on user experience and resource discoverability. A shelf address system makes it easier for library professionals to quickly organize and locate items, making it an ideal choice for a staff only area.
