Assessment Of Lake Water Quality Parameters Using Uav Hyperspectral Imaging, Hasanul Banna, Taufiqa Tajnin

Monitoring water quality in lakes is critical for assessing ecosystem health, managing drinking water resources, and detecting harmful algal blooms. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)–based hyperspectral imaging provides a promising approach for high-resolution observation of water quality parameters. In this undergraduate research project, hyperspectral imagery collected over sample lakes within the Delaware River Watershed was processed using BaySpec’s CubeStitcher software to assess its capability to detect variations in chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentrations. Chlorinated ethylenes are common groundwater contaminants that persist in the environment and pose significant risks to human health such as damage to the nervous system, liver, kidneys, and even increased risk of cancer. Catalytic dehydrochlorination has emerged as a promising strategy for detoxifying compounds such as trichloroethylene (TCE). This study investigates whether rhodium on alumina (Rh/Al₂O₃) in the presence of hydrogen gas can completely degrade TCE to non-toxic products without the accumulation of harmful chlorinated intermediates. While palladium catalysts have been widely studied for dehydrochlorination, the activity and mechanism of rhodium supported on alumina in aqueous systems remains less characterized. …

Visual dysfunction affects up to 90% of individuals with traumatic brain injuries and up to half of stroke survivors, significantly impacting independence in daily occupations. This capstone project, conducted at Nebraska Methodist Hospital, aimed to improve clients’ occupational performance and enhance occupational therapy vision neurorehabilitation through advanced clinical skill development and the development of resources. The project involved the evaluation and treatment of eleven neurological patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. The aim of this project was to increase clinical skills in a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and explore how nonpharmacological occupational therapy (OT) interventions impact pain management in the NICU for a variety of patients. This scoping review examines post-retraction citations as a proxy for epistemic risk (i.e., the likelihood that one holds a false or inaccurate belief). It aims to describe the current landscape of empirical research on post-retraction citation, with the specific aim of determining the extent of epistemic risk and describing how that risk may manifest and result in epistemic harm.

Cesarean sections (C-sections) are a major surgical procedure intended to minimize the rate of maternal and infant mortality due to complications during birth. While they were originally intended to only be performed when medically necessary, rates of non-medically indicated C-sections have increased significantly. This poster examines the unintended consequences (UICs) that are associated with C-section delivery, focusing on both short-term and long-term effects. A major focus is how C-sections disrupt early microbial exposure during birth, which plays an important role in the development of the infant gut microbiome and immune system. This study investigates the role of each cerebral hemisphere in processing word forms to better understand how the brain decodes letter strings. Participants completed a same-different judgment task for four-character word and symbol (Orkhon) pairs presented unilaterally. On different trials, a single character was substituted at the first, second, third, or fourth position in the string. Results showed a sameness advantage in the left hemisphere (LH) and a difference advantage in the right hemisphere (RH) - effects only observed with word stimuli. The center provides stable housing, three daily meals, clothing, and a range of support systems designed to promote rehabilitation and community reintegration. Supercritical fluid extractions are a green chemistry technique that is used to isolate nonpolar compounds, without the use of solvents that are harmful to the environment. Compounds reach their supercritical point which is found above their critical temperature and pressure causing them to be in a state between liquid and gas phases. Carbon dioxide in its supercritical fluid form acts as a solvent. Background: Caregivers of children with disabilities in Northwest Indiana (NWI) face limited services and often receive unclear, overwhelming information, leaving them unsure how to access support.

Methods: This qualitative study conducted semi-structured interviews with six caregivers across Porter, Lake, and La Porte counties. Participants completed a single 30-40 minute interview about their experiences with community resources and ideal support. Transcribed interviews were thematically analyzed.

Results: All six caregivers used at least one form of community support. Common resources included Facebook support groups (n=6), outpatient therapies (n=5), and First Steps (n=4). Five key themes emerged: (1) importance of early intervention and …

Indoor air quality is a critical determinant of human health, particularly in communities located near industrial activity, where residents experience disproportionate exposure to harmful pollutants and spend a greater proportion of time indoors. Outdoor sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) include emissions from industrial processes, vehicle exhaust, fuel storage, and manufacturing operations. Indoor environments further contribute to personal exposure, as they are emitted from building materials, paints, adhesives, carpets, furniture, cleaning agents, personal care products, and consumer electronics. These trends are most precise if observed over a series of structurally related materials in identical testing conditions. Here, we will show a comparative study between two varieties of tungstate cathodes which suggest overarching structural features to pursue in the design of zinc-ion cells.
