The purpose of this study has been to determine the effectiveness of the health instructional program in the secondary class B schools in the State of Washington. Through the survey technique, 119 schools were contacted and questioned in relation to: (1) the various methods of organizing health classes; (2) attitudes of the instructor toward teaching health; and (3) the college preparation of health instructors.

The purpose of this study was (1) to determine if a classroom teacher could effect an increase in interest in independent reading shown by an intermediate level class through an intensified program of stimulation as measured against the reading interests evidenced by a comparable class not receiving the extra stimulation, and (2) to determine to what extent if any this stimulation of reading interests affected reading ability as measured by a standardized reading achievement test.

This is a study of a group of seventeen three year olds at the Bank Street School for Children, 69 Bank Street, New York City in which I was a student teacher for five months. My purpose is to, first, state some philosophical positions of my own concerning preschoolers and preschool education. On these bases I proceed to an investigation of the school as an institution, a discussion of the parents, the children, and the curriculum for the group. It is possible that interruptions cannot be completely eliminated, but from this study it is hoped that teachers and administrators will be able to evaluate their particular situations and minimize interruption problems. Other purposes of the study have been to determine the origin of interruptions and the relationship between disciplinary problems and classroom interruptions. Also included will be an evaluation of teaching duties that reduce teachers’ instructional time.

The purpose of this study was to survey the commercial curriculum of the high schools of the State of Washington. Of particular emphasis was (1) the number of high school commercial teachers employed; (2) commercial subjects offered, grade level at which offered, and total semesters offered; (3) the availability of business machines; (4) commercial courses least needed, and (5) commercial course subjects that could be added. This survey reveals the common characteristics of the commercial departments of the high schools at this time.
