Pandemic Pathways: An Integrated Approach To Studying The Pandemic’S Employment Impacts On Paid And Unpaid Care Of Children 0 To 11 Years Old, Johanna S. Quinn

The pandemic adversely affected the employment of child caregivers, exacerbating already existing inequalities. The authors offer an integrated framework that considers the interdependencies between unpaid and paid child caregiving and the construction of the childcare sector as a devalued and fractionalized group. The authors outline the prepandemic positioning of mothers, childcare teachers, preschool teachers, and primary school teachers. Then, using cross-sectional and panel data from the Current Population Survey, the authors describe how the pandemic affected these four groups of child caregivers’ employment between January 2018 and December 2022. In this practice-as-research, I take growth models from plants such as algae, then process these codes on a loom to exploring the emergence and narrative that develop.

Study Questions: Previous research has shown that human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status and intimate partner violence (IPV) victimization are correlated. Furthermore, it has been consistently reported that transgender individuals are at an increased risk of experiencing IPV victimization and testing positive for HIV compared to cisgender individuals. However, past research examining the potential explanations for the correlation between HIV status and IPV victimization in transgender individuals using a large and inclusive sample is nonexistent. Asthma is a prevalent condition characterized by an individual’s airway becoming inflamed, constricted, and leads to the formation of mucus and difficulty breathing. Nearly 27 million individuals are currently diagnosed with Asthma in the United States, and African Americans are 40% more likely to be diagnosed with asthma than Caucasians. This literature review analyzed multifaceted barriers that restrict African American asthmatic children from gaining consistent asthma treatment. Characterizing recent changes in the structure and types of agrarian production systems, this review identifies responses to deal with the challenges and opportunities to promote more sustainable production and extraction economies in the Amazon. The State of Texas supports the largest prison system in the US and held 132,859 people in 100 units scattered across the state as of December 2023. Approximately 70% of Texas prison beds are not air conditioned, despite the state’s reputation for dangerously hot, humid summers. The State has officially recorded temperatures inside Texas prison facilities as high as 120 degrees with heat index values of over 150. In 1976 the Argentine government was taken over by a right wing military junta, attempting to “save” their country from communism. Military officials kidnapped, tortured and killed between 10,000 and 30,000 Argentine citizens, who were thought of as “guerrillas” supporting the leftist government and the late president Juan Perón. These victims are regarded as the disappeared, or Los Desaparecidos; due to the fact their families had no knowledge of where their loved ones were taken, or what was happening to them. Throughout popular culture, friendships between girls are often portrayed as emotionally intimate partnerships. The fact that these relationships are rarely questioned about the possibility for attraction, while encounters between boys and girls often are, demonstrates the hegemony of the heteropatriarchal social order. The prevalence of passionate, partnership-like friendships among girls within mainstream society will be analyzed through a queer lens, positing that common conceptions of girlhood are inherently queer regardless of the presence of attraction. Eminem's lyrical life course trajectory helps provide insight into hip-hop and rap music's arguably criminal social stigma. Previous studies have examined Eminem's songs, but these topics focused on singular songs and themes rather than a lyrical life course. This study fills the gap by providing a content analysis of Eminem's solo studio albums, where it identifies themes and patterns that appear in the album's lyrics. The purpose of this study was to use research questions based on theory and previous research to examine Eminem's lyrics and personas. Background: In the United States (U.S.), falls are the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and over, resulting in 36 million falls yearly (Moreland et al., 2020). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023), one in four older adults experiences a fall each year. Falls are the world's second most prominent cause of accidental deaths (World Health Organization [WHO], 2021). Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries among older adults (Moreland et al., 2020).

Disabled women are often excluded from the reproductive rights movement based on the wrongful assumption that women’s disability makes them unfit for motherhood. The social proscription of parenting by disabled women creates reproduction rights issues as it blocks pathways to parenthood while simultaneously ignoring the ever present influence mothering ideology (i.e., the motherhood mandate) has on the gender identity of these women. Research on disabled motherhood is sparse; thus, this study seeks to add to it by examining the intersection of disability, femininity, and motherhood through the lens of young childless disabled women. After reaching a 40-year low for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021 at 14.0 divorces per 1,000 married women), divorce rates have risen slightly in 2022 to 14.6 divorces per 1,000 married women (FP-23-24). Among recently divorced individuals, many may be parents with resident children. Using the American Community Survey (ACS) data from 2022, we estimate whether minor children (either biological, stepchildren, or adopted) are present in the household among recently divorced (within the last year) parents aged 18-55. Currently, the ACS does not capture divorced individuals with nonresident children and thus these figures underestimate the percentage of recently divorced …

Since the mid-1960s, the living arrangements of older adults (those aged 50 and above) have shifted significantly. Today, most older adults either live alone, with a spouse, or with a partner (Ausubel, 2020; Vespa, 2017). Although the proportion of older adults living with a spouse remains stable (Vespa, 2017), a declining share of older adults lives alone (Stepler, 2020) and an increasing share are in multigenerational households (Washington, Gryn, Anderson, & Kreider, 2023). The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 created a public health crisis that led to an unprecedented number of school closures. A major concern raised by child advocates, law enforcement, and social service providers was the possible increase in undetected child abuse and maltreatment. Undergirding this concern was the belief that this mitigation effort might place child abuse victims and offenders within proximity for extended periods of time. This chapter explores how practices of digital kinning and digital homing enacted through smartphones shape the experiences of Chinese older adults in Perth, Australia. Transnational grandparent carers must balance the risks of diminished social networks with the benefits of providing intergenerational care. Some form strong friendships in Perth, but many yearn for a leisured life with their friends in China. Findings illustrate the central role of digital migration practices in transnational families and friendships, not only sustaining distant support networks, but also building new communities in host settings. This study examines the attitudes of students in Munster Technological University (MTU) towards menstruation and period products. It is estimated that in Ireland, between 53,000 and 85,000 Irish menstruators may be at risk of period poverty (Government of Ireland, 2021). There is also evidence to suggest that some students have experienced period poverty (Ministry of Education, 2023; Brinkley and Niebuhr, 2022; Munro et. al., 2021). Period poverty has an impact on the physical, mental, and social well-being of menstruators, ultimately affecting their quality of life.

Historically, studies have focused on serial murder according to the perpetrator's typology or indicators at the crime scene. The current topics of research lack a comparison of these classifications. The study looked at the impact those experiences had on transgender student perspectives regarding inclusivity on campus. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประวัติพัฒนาการแนวคิดและหลักพื้นฐานของพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมในประชาคมสังคมและวัฒนธรรมอาเซียนเพื่ออนุวัติการความตกลงอาเซียนดังกล่าว ศึกษามาตรการของการบังคับใช้กฎหมายไทยตามพันธกรณีตามความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและพันธกรณีตามความตกลงสิ่งแวดล้อมพหุภาคี (MEAs) วิเคราะห์กลไกบังคับใช้กฎหมายไทยและกลไกระงับกรณีพิพาททางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมของประชาคมอาเซียนเปรียบเทียบกับสหภาพยุโรป รวมทั้งเสนอแนะนโยบายและมาตรการเพื่อพัฒนาปรับปรุงกฎหมายไทยในการอนุวัติตามความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมให้มีการบังคับใช้ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและสัมฤทธิผลในบริบทของประเทศไทยและประชาคมอาเซียน การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเอกสารในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเอกสารทั้งภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษ กับวิธีการประชุมสนทนากลุ่มย่อยในการรับฟังความคิดเห็นของหน่วยงานและผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิที่เกี่ยวข้อง โดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ซึ่งมีการสุ่มกลุ่มตัวอย่างตามวัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยจำนวน 27 คน แบ่งเป็น 3 กลุ่ม คือ (1) กลุ่มหน่วยงานภาครัฐ (2) กลุ่มหน่วยงานภาคเอกชน และ (3) กลุ่มผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิภาควิชาการ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อให้เกิดการตรวจสอบแหล่งข้อมูลแบบสามเส้า ในการเก็บรวบรวมจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญทั้ง 3 กลุ่มตามระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแล้วนำมาวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงเนื้อหา วิเคราะห์เชิงตรรกวิทยา และการวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบเกี่ยวกับการบังคับใช้กฎหมายไทยตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม กลไกบังคับใช้กฎหมาย และกลไกระงับข้อพิพาทสิ่งแวดล้อมให้มีประสิทธิภาพและสัมฤทธิผลในบริบทของประเทศไทยและประชาคมอาเซียน รวมทั้งยังได้จัดการประชุมสัมมนาวิชาการเพื่อรับฟังความคิดเห็นและข้อเสนอแนะจากผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเพื่อปรับปรุงสรุปผลการวิจัยและข้อเสนอแนะให้มีความถูกต้องและสมบูรณ์มากยิ่งขึ้น ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ประเทศไทยได้ดำเนินการปฏิบัติตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมในระดับภูมิภาค และการปฏิบัติตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความความร่วมมืออาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและความตกลงสิ่งแวดล้อมพหุภาคี (MEAs) หากเกิดปัญหาข้อพิพาทสิ่งแวดล้อมตามพันธกรณีก็ยังมีกลไกบังคับใช้กฎหมายภายในของประเทศไทยและสมาชิกอาเซียนอื่น กฎหมายระหว่างประเทศ รวมทั้งกลไกระงับข้อพิพาททางสิ่งแวดล้อมตามพันธกรณีภายใต้ความตกลงอาเซียนทางด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมทั้งในระดับภูมิภาคอาเซียน คือ กลไกระงับข้อพิพาทภายใต้กฎบัตรอาเซียน ค.ศ. 2008 และพิธีสารว่าด้วยกลไกระงับข้อพิพาทของอาเซียน ค.ศ. 2004 รวมทั้งกลไกระงับข้อพิพาทในระดับโลก เช่น กลไกระงับข้อพิพาทขององค์การการค้าโลก อนุญาโตตุลาการระหว่างประเทศ หรือ ศาลยุติธรรมระหว่างประเทศ
