The purpose of the study is to record the history of Adult Education programs of the Brigham Young University. Such a history has not been written although two master's theses and one doctor's thesis have treated some phases of the study. George S. Haslam, Chairman of the B.Y.U. Ogden Center for Continuing Education, explored in his master's thesis the History of the Policy Making Groups of the Brigham Young University particularly as they have reference to adult education. An Odontometric Study Of Five Contemporary Western United States Indian And Alaskan Eskimo Groups, John A. Matis
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
The morphologic characteristics of the oral cavity in five contemporary Western Indian and Alaskan Eskimo groups have been investigated by the use of study models of the dental archs. The sample consisted of 216 individuals, including 44 Navajos, 43 Apaches, 40 Papagos, 42 Pimas and 47 Alaskan Eskimos.
The first purpose of the study was to determine the extent of investigator error. This was accomplished by remeasuring many morphologic traits of the dentition in 125 Indians which had previously been measured by different investigators using the same study models. It was found that investigator error can be significant, even in …

Religious Preference And Worldly Success: A Comparison Of Protestants And Catholics, James W. Crowley

The problem, of theory construction toward a sociological understanding of the religious-economic relationship has relied to a great extent upon the work of a German social scientist, Max Weber.1 Historical observations made by Weber, which described a meaningful relationship between Protestantism and modern industrial capitalism,2 stimulated scholars from a number of fields to continue investigation of this relationship. The Weberian thesis advanced the position that religious and economic phenomena within a society were mutually interdependent. More specifically, Weber was concerned with the 'economic ethics of a religion'3 in relation to the economic institution. This relationship was considered …

After Pastor Joseph Lavelais of Philadelphia had conducted opening devotions at the Conference on Church and Social Change at Chicago's Concord-O'Hare Inn, Chairman Wiederaenders presented for adoption an agenda which had been mailed to participants prior to the meeting.
A motion from the floor was adopted by a large majority that the printed agenda be set aside. Voices from the floor indicated an eagerness to discuss the church's commitment and participation in filling a meaningful role in the social problems of the day as they impinge upon the church and the communities it serves.
