Louboutin Lawfare: Exploring Conceptions Of Sanctions' Utility Through Export Controls On Luxury Goods, Vinita R. Singh

There is widespread consensus amongst scholars that sanctions—the deliberate withdrawal of customary trade and financial relations—do not work. Despite this perception, states are deploying sanctions at an increasing rate. This Article explains this paradox by arguing the predominant notion of sanctions’ utility employed by scholars is unduly constrained, narrowly focusing on the ability of such measures to modify the behavior of sanctioned parties while disregarding the alternative benefits this instrument can deliver. The indigenous traditions of Moroccan geography, pioneered by such figures as AI Idrisi and Ibn Khaldun during the classical period of Arab intellectual history (1000-1400), came to be ignored and then replaced with the establishment of a French protectorate in 1912. The era of independence in Moroccan geography was supplanted by an era of dependence on European scholarship, which emphasized resource exploitation and which was to last until political independence in 1956. The concept of moral injury is relatively new, and most of the attention has been aimed at military veterans. Moral injury is perpetrating, failing to prevent, bearing witness to, or learning about acts that transgress deeply held moral beliefs and expectations. While awareness has increased in recent years, research on moral injury among law enforcement officers is limited. On average, during a 20-year career, police officers are exposed to 700 critical incidents, while average citizens may witness two. Aims of the study: The main aim of this study was to discover the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic crisis management from health policymakers' perspective in the Gaza Strip. Methods: The researcher used a qualitative design, targeting 25health policymakers using a purposeful sampling technique and face-to-face semi-structured interviews to collect data. To analyze the interview data, the directed qualitative content analysis approach was used.

Pottery And Stone Objects From The Abbasid–Fatimid Periods At Ramla, Hagit Torgë

The pottery assemblage from the excavation at Ramla comprises well-known vessel types of the late Abbasid–Fatimid periods, mostly dating between the ninth and eleventh centuries CE. Most of the vessels were locally made; however, fine-ware vessels imported from as far as Egypt and China, were also found. Other probably imported items from Egypt are a Shabti figurine and a fragment of green marble. These luxury finds indicate that the area was most likely part of the affluent neighborhood of Ramla uncovered south of the White Mosque in the Early Islamic period.

This study examined the relationship between spirituality, interconnectedness, and concern for global crises. A sample of 225 participants comprised of students from King's University College, members of the Consciousness Club, and alumni from The Finders Course completed online questionnaires assessing spirituality, psychological well-being, and attitudes toward global crises. Quadratic regression analysis revealed that spirituality accounted for 11% of the variance in concern for global crises. Individuals scoring lower and higher on spirituality reported the most concern for global crises, whereas individuals scoring in the mid-range on spirituality reported less concern for global crises. Drawing on three fields of study, Animal Studies, Black Studies, and Shakespeare Studies, this dissertation examines animal triangulation as a system of oppression in which three constituents are triangulated for the benefit of the oppressor. Through triangulation, the oppressed/oppressor duality expands, creating a triad: the oppressor, the proxy, and the oppressed. This reimagining of the traditional binary of oppression opens new areas of conversation by adding an additional component. This paper attempts to provide the reasoning behind why despite his unconventional character, Trump maintains a strong base of support from young evangelical voters. Background: The maritime industry, vital for global trade, faces escalating cyber threats in 2025. Critical port infrastructures are increasingly vulnerable due to rapid digitalization and the integration of IT and operational technology (OT) systems. Methods: Using 112 incidents from the Maritime Cyber Attack Database (MCAD, 2020-2025), we developed a novel quantitative risk assessment model based on a Threat-Vulnerability-Impact (T-V-I) framework, calibrated with MITRE ATT&CK techniques and validated against historical incidents. AI/AN peoples have served with distinction in every major conflict for over 200 years. This study explored the lived experiences of Native American undergraduate students at a small Midwestern university, with particular attention to how identity development, systemic challenges, and culturally grounded support systems shape their academic and personal paths. Using a phenomenological approach paired with an autoethnographic lens, this research amplifies Native student voices while drawing on the reflections of the Indigenous researcher who shares similar lived experiences. A vast body of scholarship situates itself in the New Deal era. Another extensive collection explores the history of criminal justice in the United States. To date, however, there has been little effort to bring these conversations together. New Deal Law and Order, written by legal historian Anthony Gregory, fills this conspicuous gap. Gregory remarkably narrates the New Deal era through the lens of President Franklin Roosevelt’s “war on crime” (p. 1), challenging how we think about both the New Deal’s legacy and the foundations of the modern security state.
