Aircrew Training Devices: Utility And Utilization Of Advanced Instructional Features (Phase I-Tactical Air Command), Donald J. Polzella

Psychology Faculty Publications

An Aircrew Training Device (ATD) is not merely a flight simulator. It is also equipped with sophisticated hardware and software capabilities, known as advanced instructional features (AIFs), that permit a flight crew instructor to control, monitor, and record flight simulation training sessions. A survey conducted at five of the principal Tactical Air Command ATD sites revealed that few instructors receive extensive training in AIF use and that most features are not used very often. Several factors appear to have contributed to the low rate of AIF use. These factors include hardware and/or software unreliability, time-consuming implementation, functional limitations, and design …

An Arms Race In Outer Space Between The United States And The Soviet Union Implications For U.S. Foreign Policy, Gary Morgan Jensen

Graduate Program in International Studies Theses & Dissertations

The development of an operational anti-satellite capability by the Soviet Union, and the corresponding U.S. effort to develop an anti-satellite capability of its own, are gradually propelling both nations into a space arms race. Going Among Them: The Evolution Of The Home Visit, Terry Holbrook Mar 1983

Going Among Them: The Evolution Of The Home Visit, Terry Holbrook

The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare

The methods, motives and objectives of home visiting have been ignored by most social work historians, while the profession of social work has become almost universally associated with this practice by the public. This paper examines the historical, social, and political implications of home visiting from the founders of the profession to the present day, suggesting a revitalization of this taken for granted practice for the purpose of collecting "social evidence" to be used for social reform.
