It has been my purpose in this research to unveil a clear picture of the historical activities of our Food For Peace Program, commonly know as Public Law 480, with the hope of' being able to establish a basis for .future understanding. I have examined certain problems arising in both normal and abnormal situations in the activities under Public Law 480, and have presented views as to how they might be corrected or avoided.

Each year children of seasonal worker who reside in the labor camps of the Patterson-Westley area enter kindergarten unable to learn. They are disadvantaged by comparison with children from the middle-class homes in the community. The organization and development of Del Puerto School for Pre-Kindergarten Children was a community effort to alleviate some of the cultural deprivation experienced by the children.

The field of practical nursing has grown considerably in the past ten years. To meet the challenge of growth, schools of practical nursing must be constantly aware of the changing needs of the many institutions their graduates may serve. In order to insure that graduates maintain their effectiveness as an established member of the nursing team, the schools must engage in continuous research to keep their curriculums meaningful and updated.

Data from thirty medical records of phenylketonuric children under treatment were investigated to determine at which serum phenylalanine level (0-3.9 mg. %, 4-7.9 mg %, 8-11.9 mg. %, greater than 12 mg. %) there would be the greatest increase in intelligence. The children involved in the study were divided into the following groups according to the age dietary treatment was initiated: 0 through 5 months, 6 through 11 months, 12 through 23 months, and over 2 years of age.

Hospital personnel are becoming more aware of the fact that hospitalization is traumatic to the emotional life of the young child. Since eating habits and emotions are so closely allied, it is probable that the young child's eating pattern will be affected during hospitalization. The purpose of this study was to determine the reaction of children between the ages of one through four to food during the first three days of hospitalization at the White Memorial Hospital. The method chosen to obtain this information was the descriptive survey. The tools used were a checklist for the researcher to record her …
