A Survey Of Advertising Copy Appeals As Seen In The Milwaukee Journal From January, 1937 To January, 1938, Frances M. Revere
Bachelors’ Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to show what copy appeal are current in present day advertising columns as exemplified by advertising appearing in the Milwaukee Journal for the year, 1937. Advertising copy may be divided into many categories, but the most obvious are the distinct groups which appeal either to the senses or to reason. If this thesis does no more than break down these groups as displayed on the newspaper page and analyze them for their individuating traits, then it will have accomplished its purpose.
The Press And The Radio, Paul F. Thielen
The Press And The Radio, Paul F. Thielen
Bachelors’ Theses
With the development of a new media of communication -- the radio -- the status of the newspaper is necessarily affected. As a purveyor of news, and probably more important, of advertising, the radio's entrance into daily life of 122,000,000 Americans may constitute a serious competitive threat to the Fourth Estate. Whether the radio will ever replace the newspaper is a matter of discussion in editorial and broadcasting groups at the present time, and its possibility of relegating the press to the status of a second-rank media of news distribution is a matter that is looked upon with more than …

Bachelors’ Theses
Cooperative advertising is a comparatively new field. Only one work of any length and comprehensiveness has been as yet written about it--Hugh E. Agnew's Cooperative Advertising by Competitors. Yet, for all its youth, it is amazingly robust and mature.

The Influence Of External Factors Upon The Functions Of The Family Since 1929, Evelyn M. Eckhoff
Bachelors’ Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to show the influence of external factors upon the functions of the family since 1929. The writer will consider the affectional, religious, economic, protective, recreational and educational functions, and will endeavor to determine the extent to which external factors have affected the functions of the family and the family itself.
Studies on the social aspects of the depression, published by the Social Science Research Council, have been particularly helpful in the preparation of this thesis. The writer refers especially to the Research Memorandum on the Family in the Depression, Research Memorandum on Religion in …

Compilation Of Books In The Field Of Advertising That Have Been Written Or Copyrighted From January, 1928 To March, 1938, Eileen Mary Curtin
Bachelors’ Theses
The purpose of this thesis is simply to provide the faculty and students of the College of Journalism with an easily accessible file for reference work in the field of Advertising. It was compiled with the intention that those persons especially interested in advertising developments, would have an index of all the material that has been written in the last ten years in that and allied fields. Since there is no other complete listing of Advertising books including such subjects as radio, typography, publicity etc. readily available in compact form, it is hoped that this thesis can be used as …
