A Study Of The Associated Press With Emphasis On The Washington Bureau, Sharlene Agerter
A Study Of The Associated Press With Emphasis On The Washington Bureau, Sharlene Agerter
Student Scholarship
This research paper, submitted in January 1951, provides a comprehensive historical and functional analysis of the Associated Press (AP), with a specific focus on its Washington Bureau. The study traces the evolution of news gathering from early 19th-century methods—such as Samuel Topliff’s systematic rowboat collection of European news in 1811and the subsequent use of pony expresses, carrier pigeons, and the telegraph—to the formal establishment of the first co-operative news organization in May 1848. The author details the AP’s survival through intense journalistic wars, legal battles over monopoly charges, and pivotal internal conflicts between New York and Western news factions.

A Study Of The Psychology Of Perfume Advertising As Used In Five Popular Magazines, Raymond Albert Herwitz
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Throughout the history of physiology and psychology. much effort has been devoted to the study of the functions of the emotions and their subsequent effects on behavior. A systematic investigation of the powers have proved to be extremely fruitful for further understanding of how the emotional appeal can be used, within advertising limits, on individuals.

Social Implications Of Weather Modification, Orville E. Lanham
Agricultural Experiment Station Rural Sociology Pamphlets (1940-1977)
From the research reviewed, several generalizations may be derived. Some degree of caution is to be used as these generalizations are drawn mostly from the studies of three researchers (Lanham, Larson, Haas). Through personal interaction these researchers have cooperated in the design of the basic interview instrument and sample design. Thus, with some common units of measurement the results of the three studies can be compared across time and space. [1] The studies indicate that the public has little knowledge of weather modification. [2] The studies show favorable attitudes and support for cloud seeding programs. [3] The research findings are …

Historic Publications
This report documents a notable interruption in New Mexico’s post‑war economic growth, driven largely by sharp declines in mining employment and production, while construction activity remained a major positive contributor with strong permit issuance and rising materials sales.
