The Scriptural Doctrine Of The Atonement With Special Reference To The False Theories Of Atonement, Arnold V. Kuster
The Scriptural Doctrine Of The Atonement With Special Reference To The False Theories Of Atonement, Arnold V. Kuster
Bachelor of Divinity
It is a well known fact that the Lutheran, that is, the scriptural, doctrine of the atonement is being denied and even ridiculed throughout the theological world. Substitute theories have been set up, about whose banners theologians have rallied and continue to rally. Such is the situation which calls forth this study of the scriptural doctrine of the atonement, with special reference to the false theories of atonement.

Chile Pentecostal (1934–1936)

August 9, 1534, died in Rome Jacopo de Vio do Gaeta. More of us will recognize him when it is stated that he changed his baptismal name Jacob or James to Thomas when, in 1484, he entered the Dominican Order, fifteen years old, and that later as cardinal be was known by a derivative of the name of his native city, Cajetan. Even in Roman Catholic circles this anniversary was remembered only "among the more erudite of the European reviews" for his "treatises and commentaries, that are the delight of experts in Thomistic lore," as the Commonweal points out.

Timothy, to whom this letter is addressed, had been left by Paul in charge of the large and influential congregation at Ephesus. Though still a young man, 1 Tim. 4, 12, Timothy was by no means a novice. Ho had been n "work-fellow'' of the apostle, Rom. 16, 21, for a number of years, had been entrusted with a number of important missions, and was one of the most trustworthy associates of Paul, Phil. 51, 20.

The doctrine that the saints will be raised from the grave at the beginning of the millennium and the wicked at the end of that period is not found in 1 Thess. 4, 16 and 1 Cor. 15, 23 f., but only in the chiliatic glossaries of these texts. Nor can it be found in Rev. 20,1-8. The chiliasts indeed insist thot this text distinctly teaches it.

The Resurrection Of The Body In The Old Testament - An Exegetical Study, Allen Schuldheisz
Bachelor of Divinity
It will be the object of the following treatise to present, in a brief way, some of the Scriptural evidence from the O.T., showing that the believers of the Old Covenant held fast to the hope or a resurrection as a cardinal article of their faith.

The Various Views And Controversies On Church Polity In The Lutheran Church Of America, To 1827, Walter O. Forster
The Various Views And Controversies On Church Polity In The Lutheran Church Of America, To 1827, Walter O. Forster
Bachelor of Divinity
In order to present an accurate picture of that portion of Lutheran Church History to which this study is devoted, we must have some foundation from which to work common to all of the Lutheran bodies which come into consideration. The only fundamental of that kind we have been able to discover is the statement of the Lutheran position on church polity which is contained in the Lutheran Symbols. However, even this is hardly satisfactory. That is the case partly because the Lutheran Symbols were not held in high regard by some of the Lutheran groups in America; partly because …
The Kingdom Of Heaven Or The Kingdom Of God In The New Testament, William F. Doeling
The Kingdom Of Heaven Or The Kingdom Of God In The New Testament, William F. Doeling
Bachelor of Divinity
Today with ever greater insistence is urged the question, “What is the Kingdom of God?" The question is evidently prompted by a dissatisfaction with former definitions. A new definition is wanted, a new interpretation of the Kingdom and the Gospel of the Kingdom is sought. It is not enough to answer that God is unchangeable, His purposes and Kingdom likewise. No, the question must be answered again.
Justification In The Old Testament, Fred R. Lammert
Justification In The Old Testament, Fred R. Lammert
Bachelor of Divinity
This topic needs discussion not only because of the value of such study, but also because of the large amount of opposition to the Old Testament at the present time and the immense forces that are directing their efforts to overthrow the Old Testament. On the one hand we have those opponents who because of anti-Semitic fanaticism want to reject the Old Testament from the outset, while on the other hand we meet those who wish to oppose the Old Testament by their own conjectures and thus overthrow it. The latter, negative Bible critics, try to find in the books …
The Doctrine Of Baptism In The Epistles Of St. Paul, Clarence W. Stradtmann
The Doctrine Of Baptism In The Epistles Of St. Paul, Clarence W. Stradtmann
Bachelor of Divinity
When discussing the doctrine of baptism in any New Testament writing we must first come to an agreement on the one point on which an important part of the argument hinges, namely, the exact meaning of the word.
The Deity Of Christ According To The Epistle To The Hebrews, Thomas Coates
The Deity Of Christ According To The Epistle To The Hebrews, Thomas Coates
Bachelor of Divinity
The title and the contents of the Epistle prove that the addressees were Jewish Christians, and the emphasis placed on the temple worship points to the fact that they residents of Palestine, especially of Jerusalem. The letter constitutes a warning to the Jewish Christians to remain steadfast in their adherence to Christ, amid all the vicissitudes of life. They should not relapse into their former mode of worship, naturally meaningful and dear to them as it was, for Christ is the fulfilment of the Old Testament symbolism, and the new covenant is superior to the old. The Epistle was probably …
