Recommendations For Lay Leadership Training In Central Brazil, Ralph W. Wilde

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

Evangelical pastors in central Brazil who pertain to the Brazilian denomination known as the "União das Igrejas Evangélicas Congregacionais e Cristãs" do Brasil(the U.I.E.C.C.B.) serve charges with as many as twenty-eight preaching points. Distances are great. Roads, communications and means of transportation are poor. Outpost stations, outpost Sunday schools and outpost congregations do well to see their pastor once a month. Some see him only once a year.

Since these U.I.E.C.C.B. pastors are overburdened with responsibility for sermons, sacraments and supervision, most of the speaking, teaching, witnessing and administering in the local church is done by laymen. Very few of …

Arriving in this year, the Mormons, under Brigham Young, slowly conquered parts of the Great Basin and within a few years had produced a self-sustaining agricultural economy. production of a surplus in farm products awaited only the emergence of a "foreign" market. This market was soon forthcoming.

Does Daniel 8:14 have an eschatological application? This is the problem considered in this thesis. A survey of scholarly works of exegesis in the field of Daniel 8 makes it quite evident that the majority of commentators through the centuries have limited the application of the prophecy to Maccabean times. This paper will present a picture of the struggles of the Lemhis prior to and during their residency on the new reservation with a brief follow-up on their ultimate removal to the Fort Hall Reservation. Consideration will be given to the methods by which the Lemhis earned their living, gained their educations, and accomplished their personal conquests. Also included will be accounts of the Nez Perce and Bannock Wars as they related to the Lemhis.
