The Cursing Of The Barren Fig Tree (Mark 11:2-14), Ronald Lehenbauer
The Cursing Of The Barren Fig Tree (Mark 11:2-14), Ronald Lehenbauer
Master of Divinity Thesis
The main purpose of this paper, however, is to attempt to answer the third question listed above; it is hoped that in the process of the discussion solutions to some of the other difficulties will also suggest themselves. Concentrating on the Markan account, we will proceed first by discussing various answers that have been suggested to the question: what was the original purpose of the story? Secondly, the text will be examined exegetically and its context in Mark will be scrutinized in an effort to determine which of the suggested answers best accords with the evidence. Because of the scope …

Reality As A Basis For Religious Education, Donald Jerke
Master of Divinity Thesis
It is the purpose of the author to present in detail the theological, philosophical, and educational presuppositions and understandings of the Educational Center and indicate their application to the Center's unique educational method. In Chapter Two those concepts are presented and terms defined which express the Center's view of existence, its religious dimensions, its relationship to the Christian faith, and its implications for the educational task of the Church. Chapter Three presents an overview of the Center's methodology and its application to the structure of particular courses and the development of educational programs at the parish level. After Pastor Joseph Lavelais of Philadelphia had conducted opening devotions at the Conference on Church and Social Change at Chicago's Concord-O'Hare Inn, Chairman Wiederaenders presented for adoption an agenda which had been mailed to participants prior to the meeting.
A motion from the floor was adopted by a large majority that the printed agenda be set aside. Voices from the floor indicated an eagerness to discuss the church's commitment and participation in filling a meaningful role in the social problems of the day as they impinge upon the church and the communities it serves.

An Inquiry Into Personality Development: A Theory Of Symbiotic Relationship, Kenneth William Chittick
An Inquiry Into Personality Development: A Theory Of Symbiotic Relationship, Kenneth William Chittick
Graduate Thesis Collection
This thesis presents an inquiry into personality development, that is, it advances a theory of personality formation based on the symbiotic relationship between mother and child. It will show indications from the research of Rappoport, Ottinger and Simmons, and the writings of Mahler, that in the relationship between the infant and its mother, the infant at first thinks that the mother is an actual part of its own wholeness. Therefore, the theory will attempt to explain how a normal, a neurotic or a psychotic personality structure of later years can be traced back to the symbiotic phase of the infant's …

Factors In The Acceptance And Adoption Of Family Home Evening In The Lds Church: A Study Of Planned Change, Robert Ernest Larson
Factors In The Acceptance And Adoption Of Family Home Evening In The Lds Church: A Study Of Planned Change, Robert Ernest Larson
Theses and Dissertations
In an effort to cope with forces which would remove the home from its place of influence, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently inaugurated the Family Home Evening Program. Emerging out of a fifty year history of efforts to institute the home evening practice, it is one of the most systematic and comprehensive efforts to date to implement change within the structure of its member families.
Such a deliberate and predetermined effort toward improving the family system constitutes what applied social scientists call "planned change." Home evening, when adopted, has many of the elements of a behavior …

An Analysis Of The 1964 Idaho Second Congressional District Election Campaign, Dean Maurice Hansen
Theses and Dissertations
After having been elected to Congress from Idaho's Second Congressional District in 1960 by a record vote, and re-elected in 1962, Democrat Ralph Harding was defeated in 1964 by Republican George Hansen in the face of a national Democratic landslide. The objective of this thesis was to analyze the Harding-Hanson contest and attempt to identify the factors which produced the Hansen victory. The methodology employed in this analysis included library research, a comprehensive survey of newspapers serving the Second District which covered the congressional race, correspondence and interviews with candidates, campaign managers and other involved individuals and groups, a grass-roots …

The universe is permeated by rhythm, harmony , and patterned movement--the movement of stars through the galaxy, the rotation of the earth, the rising and setting of the sun, the seasons, the cycle of birth, growth and death. Therefore, it is perfectly natural that man respond deeply and significantly to these ordered rhythms that make up his life, his world , and his universe .
