Marriage And Divorce, Severin J. Wiza Jul 1931

Marriage And Divorce, Severin J. Wiza

Bachelors’ Theses

Marriage and divorce have of late received a great deal of attention throughout the world. The recent Encyclical Letter of Hie Holiness Pope Pius XI, on Christian Marriage, has occasioned comment and considerable thought. Anyone desiring a full treatment of marriage and divorce should consult the Encyclical on Marriage. But yet I would be glad to have the reader attend to the thought that the reading of the Encyclical has stimulated in me. Perhaps a reading of this thesis will result in a strong desire on the readers part to write a thesis on this subject which will excel my …

Education, Psychology, And Religion As Factors In Creating Happiness Among The Deaf, O C. Schroeder May 1931

Education, Psychology, And Religion As Factors In Creating Happiness Among The Deaf, O C. Schroeder

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose of the study of aids to happiness among the deaf is to portray spiritual blessings rather than to evaluate the benefits of education and material success. To a large extent this treatise is narrative and descriptive. Our interest, however is not in narration and description per se, but only as they portray the causes of, and the means to, the promotion of happiness among the deaf.

Testimonials For The Lutheran Position In Education, P E. Kretzmann

Concordia Theological Monthly

We Lutherans of the Synodical Conference are sometimes inclined to be somewhat apologetic with regard to our whole system of religious instruction. This is true even of our catechetical training in preparation for the rite of confirmation and the admission to adult or communicant membership in the Church. How else shall we explain the lowering of standards of indoctrination, particularly in adult classes? And yet, apart from Scripture precept and example, we have the support of some of the staunchest champions of the Bible, as when J. Gresham Machen writes, in his book What is Faith? (p. 150 f.) : …

Volume 01: 1930-31, St. Mary’S Of The Barrens Seminary (Missouri)

De Andrein

A major achievement of the students of St. Mary’s of the Barrens was the regular publication of their student newspaper. Originally titled, The Andrean, it began as a typewritten, hand illustrated piece that appears to have been circulated among the student body from 1928 to 1930. In November 1930, the format and title changed to The DeAndrein. The printed newspaper included copies of photographs, and was offered for sale to alumni, family, and friends. This informative publication continued uninterrupted until 1965. Many issues of The DeAndrein (newsletter) from June 1940 to December 1963; various programs, goals, directions, etc.; many pamphlets …

In the tenth century camo "the rule of the prostitutes"-Theodora and her daughters, Theodora and Marozia. As ambitious as they were beautiful, they obtained the greatest influence in Rome by a prodigal prostitution of their charms. The supreme power in Rome was for a while practically in the hands of these licentious women. "Rome," says a contemporary chronicler, "fell under the yoke of women. As we read in the prophet: 'The effeminate shall rule over them,' " Is. 3, 4.

The Superman, C W. Faye

This is a revision, amplification, and bringing up to date of an oration delivered and published a number of years ago. I should like to add that I have sometimes felt in preparing this paper that what Bergson, for instance, has been driving at has eluded me. I have tried to present fairly and justly the doctrines of the thinkers mentioned in this paper. Even If I have failed to discover what they wished to teach, I feel pretty confident of having found out what the bulk of their followers think they teach. For practical purposes that is sufficient; for …
