The Institute for Public Policy and Administration was created to provide an organizational base for better utilizing the resources of Governors State University in working with citizens and their elected or appointed officials for the improvement of public policy and administration in our region. Research in urban transportation has been of many facets. Some have emphasized modes and routes while others have attempted to isolate and look at small segments of the transportation market with specific demands. Such segments include workers, recreation riders, and to a less extent, students. In the "journey-to-work" studies, a major finding has been that as income of workers increases, the distance between residence and work-place also increases.

This thesis starts with a series of hypotheses generated as a result of the findings of other studies reviewed in the literature. In testing the hypotheses, variables that are likely to influence …

Completion of the interstate highway network in American metropolitan areas has opened a wide variety of locational options for urban land uses. New office sites have been salient among these developments. The purpose of this study is to compare Interstate radial freeway corridors with other spatial units in Omaha and six other metropolitan areas to determine their differential attraction for new office sites in the period 1970-1976. As fair housing laws have been adopted during the late 1960's and the 70's, tools have been forged for implementing integration and fighting discrimination and segregation. One such tool, affirmative marketing, has come to public attention as the implementation of affirmative action became an important issue in the United States. American Migratory Patterns between 1970 and 1976 began to reflect a growing tendency for metropolitan counties (SMSA's)1 to suffer net migration losses and for nonmetropolitan counties to record net migration gains. The nonmetropolitan counties which had the largest net gains were those which are contiguous to an SMSA and which thus form a metropolitan fringe. The purpose of this discussion is to assess the use of correlation and regression analyses for determining bus operator hourly wages. If these hourly wages in a set of cities are highly correlated with another variable, it becomes possible to predict these wages by measuring this other variable.
