The people of India had long been dissatisfied with the educational program which existed prior to the Basic system of education. The traditional system which preceded Basic education originated with the Charter Act of 1813 of the East India Company of Britain. It seems that unless tests contribute to the learning process they are not justifiable. Merritt (12, p. 66) says the main objective of all endeavor is to promote learning. Statement of the problem.—It was the purpose of this study (a) to investigate the effect of error density (level, rate, or number of errors) on checking efficiency in a proofreading situation under normal conditions, i.e., comfortable working conditions without stress; and (b) to investigate the effects of experience in detecting errors at one level of density on the detection of errors at a later time in which the density level has been changed. Present-day management is aware of the high work-output characteristic of some “rugged individualists" who have "anti- union" sentiments. Studies concerning individuals classified as "ratebusters” have been made by Dalton (4) and by Roethlisberger and Dickson (5). The higher production efficiency of the “ratebuster" is discussed along with the increased personnel problems related to these workers. Because of anti-union sentiments, the “ratebuster” can have a disruptive effect on the labor force as a whole.

There has been wide recognition for a number of years that psychological components played a part in the etiology and treatment of some cases of chronic urticaria. Divergent opinion has been expressed regarding the importance of these components and their specific indentification. Most contentions in this area are supported by meager experimental evidence and the formulations are too often based on the superficial observation of a large number of cases or on the intensive study of the individual case.
