The problem of this study was to review 100 open heart surgical cases in a selected hospital to determine the changes occurring in central venous pressure in relation to blood loss.

The review of literature revealed that central venous pressure is an important factor in determining immediate postoperative care of open heart surgical patients. If central venous pressure falls below the normal range of 5 to 10 centimeters of water, hemorrhage is suspected. If central venous pressure is elevated between 15 and 20 centimeters of water, cardiac tamponade is suspected.

A descriptive survey study was carried out at a selected baccalaureate school of nursing in an effort to find out if the maternal interest of senior students of nursing would affect their attitudes toward breast feeding. It was hypothesized that a student who scored high on maternal interest would have a positive attitude toward breast feeding and conversely a student who scored low on the maternal interest scale would have a negative attitude toward breast feeding. Crops such as corn, rice, and sorghum, when grown close to favored roosting areas are often subject to serious damage from large flocks of feeding blackbirds. The redwinged blackbird is the most numerous species and causes most of the damage, but other blackbird species, including the yellow-headed blackbird, the common grackle, the brown-headed cowbird, and Brewer's blackbird, also contribute to damage problems. As regards both catch and value, the Shark Bay snapper fishery is the second most important scale fishery in Western Australia. Until 195%, the fishing was done solely by means of hard-lines operated from beats drifting over the snapper patches. In 1959 traps were first used with great success and in 196) this method of fishing was again the principal technique.

IN Western Australia there are within the agricultural areas about one million acres of salt land, largely within the 14-25 inch rainfall area used for cereal and wool production.

In March, 1962, farmers in 68 shires in the agricultural areas of Western Australia estimated that on their properties 305,270 acres of land previously cropped or sown to pasture had become salt affected. Of this total, 59,203 acres had gone salt in the seven years immediately before the survey.

The main objective of this study was to seek a stratigraphic subdivision of the Kimmswick Limestone in Missouri, based on its gross lithology and thin section study, and its correlation with the Galena Formation in Illinois and Iowa. Food habits were determined for 386 bigmouth buffalo and 277 smallmouth buffalo collected in 1962 and 1963 from Lewis and Clark Lake and the Missouri River. Young-of-the-year bigmouth buffalo stomachs contained 100 percent zooplankton. Bigmouth buffalo (330 to 530 millimeters) stomachs contained 99 percent zooplankton in 1952 and 95 percent in 1963. Digestive tracts of young-of-the-year smallmouth buffalo contained 99 percent copepods and one percent sand. Smallmouth buffalo (250 to 400 millimeters) contained about 65 percent zooplankton, 30 percent phytoplankton, and the remaining five percent consisted of chironomid larvae, plant detritus, and sand.

The pyrolysis of terpene hydrocarbons has been of interest primarily because of their wide-spread and abundant natural occurrence. In addition terpenes have been investigated because of their interesting stereochemistry.

Menthol is a C₁₀ monocyolic terpene alcohol. Its thermal decomposition at temperatures greater than 500°C has not been investigated previously because of inadequate methods of analysis.

The pyrolysis of other terpene hydrocarbons has revealed new routes to useful intermediates from relatively cheap source materials. Menthol, however, has never been considered as a possibility …

"The effect of aging upon the dielectric constant and the dissipation factor were investigated for a number of lead titanate zirconate ceramics of varying composition. The ceramics investigated have a perovskite type structure. The materials chosen all have tetragonal symmetry at room temperature but are close in composition to materials of rhombohedral symmetry.

"A vertical intensity magnetic survey of approximately 156 square miles in Cass County, central-west Missouri, revealed a broad circular anomaly whose magnetic relief exceeds 1000 gammas. Surface rocks are very gently inclined and are of Pennsylvanian age. Crystalline basement rocks are at a depth of approximately 2400 feet. Analysis of the data shows that the Belton anomaly consists of discontinuous smaller magnetic anomalies surrounding the central part of this broad anomaly. The central area of the Belton anomaly is occupied by a magnetic low. Analytical calculation showed that the source of the magnetic disturbance is at least 3650 feet below …

"The nature and lateral variation of a host rock limestone in the Tri-State zinc-lead district were petrographically studied within a single horizon, the M bed. This bed is a massive crinoidal limestone in the Tri- State district of southwestern Missouri, northeastern Oklahoma and southeastern Kansas and is a part of the Mississippian Keokuk Formation.

This investigation is a petrographic study of a composite section from the Duperow formation in western North Dakota in which seven cyclic microfacies are described and environmentally evaluated. The microfacies are:

1. Anhydrite-dolomite microfacies. Chemically precipitated cryptocrystalline calcite.

2. Micrite microfacies: Chemically precipitated, structurless cryptocrystalline calcite.

3. Saccharoidal dolomite microfacies. Microgranular dolomite representing dolomitized limestone .

"The Fredericktown area is part of the 'Lead Belt' district of southeastern Missouri, the major lead-producing region in the world for fifty years. The district is a typical example of the Mississippi Valley Type deposits. The ores occur in Upper Cambrian sediments overlying Precambrian rocks.

The Fe-Cu-Pb-Zn (-Co-Ni) - sulphide deposits of Fredericktown occur over a few square kilometers in sediments overlying two 'granite knobs'. The sedimentary units lap upon and pinch-out against these buried basement hills.
